Astrolabium

The astronomical clock
The Astrolabium shows the positions of the sun, moon, planet and star constellations. In fact, it can also be used to ascertain forthcoming solar and lunar eclipses. In order to meet highly precise requirements, all orbit related deviations have been taken into account and built in as a correction factor.

Festo's Astrolabium is the most precise astronomical clock ever built. It is 500 times more accurate than the astrological clock in the Strasbourg cathedral.

Der MondzeigerExample: the moon
The Astrolabium also provides information about changes regarding the moon, with a moon dial showing the exact position, the current phase and the age of the moon (i.e. the time since the last new moon). Any irregularities in the orbit are compensated by seven corrective elements in the moon gearing.
