Festo

History of Festo USA

Initially established in Port Washington, NY in 1972, the first U.S. based Festo Corporation facility provided service and parts for the growing number of woodworking machines and equipment being imported into the U.S. These machines used Festo Pneumatic components and control systems.

The Hauppauge Headquarters incorporates US administrative, engineering and manufacturing operations. The plant manufactures cylinders, valve manifolds and integrated systems specifically for the US market. In addition, over 13,000 types of pneumatic components including cylinders, valves, fittings, and accessories are warehoused there.

During the last two decades Festo has grown dramatically in the United States. In 1982, a 40,000-sq. ft. plant, warehouse and educational training facility was completed in Hauppauge, Long Island about 35 miles from New York City. Followed In 1985, by an additional 50,000-sq. ft. expansion for production and a state-of the-art automated warehouse distribution system. Experienced financial, administrative, and fluid power marketing personnel were brought on board to support Festo Corporation's growth and commitment to the U.S. market.

The 1990's brought many new milestones for Festo Corporation including the creation of the SAS Pneumatic Valve Manifold Assembly Department (1992), further plant expansion (+17,000-sq. ft. in 1996) and ISO 9001 Certification by Underwriters Laboratories (1996).

In September 1997, Festo opened a new Long Island Logistics Center serving our national customer base with enhanced delivery services.

Festo introduced several new customer services in the late 90's including the Integrated Systems (IS) Group offering control systems, assemblies and pre-engineered handling systems, and the SA (Special Applications) Department offering customized solutions for standard products.

A national Customer Resource Center in St. Louis, MO was established in 2000, in conjunction with the launch of the "Festo Online Shop", a complete e-commerce solution.

In 2002, Festo opened a new multi-million-dollar Design and Manufacturing Operation in Livermore, CA. The 20,000 square-foot facility supports the development and assembly of automation equipment for the semiconductor, biotech, and special packaging industries. The Facility offers Class 10,000 and 100 clean rooms, and is staffed and focused on the technical and operational needs of high technology companies. As an extension of Festo's Long Island, NY manufacturing facility, and the corporate headquarters, Livermore serves as a conduit for Festo to bring its total automation solution capability to these high-tech industries.

In the new millennium, Festo will continue to provide the innovative products and services required by the world's leading manufacturers.
