Adaptive, learning production systems are shaping the vision of the factory of the future. These focus on the way our customers see the aspects of efficiency: resources are to be conserved, setup times minimised and the increasing number of variants mastered with confidence. Festo is developing this vision and its success factors in cooperation with leading-edge users in various research projects.
The future calls for a high degree
of flexibility and versatility
Efficiency for the factory of tomorrow means being not only flexible, but also versatile – in order to manufacture products for a new sector at short notice, for example. Modularity, IT technologies and miniaturisation play an important role here.
In their research into the factory of the future, the engineers from Festo therefore make use of the interdisciplinary nature of mechatronics in order to bring together specialist expertise from various disciplines of technology. This provides the basis for effectively and flexibly dealing with the highly diverse requirements of the research activities for the factory of the future.
