Festo receives environmental technology prize in the category “Instrumentation and control technology”
Energy efficiency on production lines cuts costs in machine construction and reduces the burden on the environment.
With its Energy Saving Services, Festo has created an innovative system to boost the efficiency of production lines: A detailed analysis is conducted in order to reveal the weaknesses of pneumatic machine drives and control systems and indicate measures which can be implemented immediately in order to optimise the overall compressed-air supply network. The result is improved energy conditions throughout production operations, from compressed-air generation and distribution through to consumption. On 24th June 2009, the Ministry of the Environment of the German State of Baden-Wuerttemberg presented its Environmental Technology Prize for 2009 to Festo Energy Saving Services.
“Machine construction is a key element in the economy of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Festo has recognised the needs of today’s machine operators and is helping with its Energy Saving Services to further enhance the international technological lead of this industry and extend this to include energy efficiency.
A clear benefit for the environment which also delivers a financial advantage,” says Environment Minister Tanja Goenner, commenting on the jury’s decision. “Festo places great emphasis on reducing environmental damage and on efficient use of resources. Higher productivity, lower costs and higher energy efficiency are crucial factors in achieving efficient automation, both for us and our customers world-wide,” explains Dr. Eberhard Veit, Chairman of the Management Board and Director of Technology and Market Positioning at Festo AG.
