terminals CPX/MPA to air preparation
units from the MS series, flow sensors
MS6-SFAM and on site valve terminal
cabinets. To complete the pneumatic
control chain, the list also contains ISO
cylinders, one way flow control valves,
fittings, tubing and cylinder sensors.
Everything from a single source
The single sourcing principle achieved
reduced costs and increased the
efficiency of the procurement process.
In particular, standardised valve terminal
cabinets allowed installation builders,
consultants, and above all B. Braun
themselves to focus entirely on their own
core competencies. Festo planned, built
and delivered 45 ready-to-install valve
terminal cabinets directly to the factory.
Thanks to its global sales and service
network, Festo was able to ensure that
the deliveries from the different countries
met the project standard.
Supplied fully assembled and tested, the
complete solutions lessened the
workload of the customer’s staff, kept
system design costs down, facilitated the
procurement process and reduced
process costs. “Fit and forget is the aim
for our customers,” explains Jürgen
Weber, Head of Key Account Management
Process Automation at Festo.
All for a good reason
“Given the time pressure in the
installation construction industry, ready-
to-install solutions are ideal,” says
Cristina Molina. Before the start of the
project, she was familiar with Festo more
as a component supplier. “But in the case
of the control cabinets, much more than
selling was needed,” she explains.
“Comprehensive advice was what we
needed, and what we received – from a
3D model to the design coordination
stage.”
The maintenance and repair costs of a
system over its entire life cycle are often
significantly higher than the actual initial
investment. Here, too, significant benefits
can be achieved by standardisation,
which makes it possible to reduce
inventory of spare parts and also
simplifies the training of maintenance
personnel.
