Festo has developed products for servopneumatic welding guns specifically to meet
the stringent requirements in relation to precision and robustness for body assembly
welding in the automotive industry.
No matter whether Euro X, Euro C or servopneumatically controlled welding guns, the
different product types and versions from Festo facilitate efficient use of pneumatics in
spot welding.

Improved spot welding – with servopneumatic drive and control systems
The requirements for welding guns are constantly increasing. This is not just about the
reproducibility of the spot welds; the flexibility and speed of the welding guns are just
as important.
Festo has developed servopneumatic drive and control systems for welding guns to
meet these requirements.
These systems offer more than precision control and regulation of C and X welding
guns. Each spot weld can be made with the welding guns set to an individual force and
an individual opening width.
The freely programmable opening width means that the welding guns no longer have
to be fully opened when working around protruding edges. It is possible to simply
work around the obstacle by opening the welding guns only as wide as is necessary.
Advantage:
higher welding rate and shorter cycle times.
Further advantages are created by the high quality and reproducibility of the spot
welds since no rebound impact is generated and the pressure is measured directly by
sensors in the cylinder.
The servopneumatic welding gun drive from Festo comprises the following
