Fundamentals of Metal Technology

Metal technology is an important training area that imparts basic knowledge and skills in dealing with metals

During the training, prospective specialists learn how to process, shape and join metals. The basic content includes materials science, machine and plant operation, technical drawings and various manufacturing processes such as turning, milling and welding.

The training also emphasizes safety regulations and quality control to ensure precise and safe operation. Professions such as metal worker, cutting machine operator or industrial mechanic build on these foundations and benefit from sound training in metal technology. By learning these basic skills, trainees are able to solve technical problems and optimize production processes.

As a result, metal technology forms an important basis for many technical professions and contributes to the development of qualified specialists in industry.

Testing technology

Measuring the physical dimensions – length, angle, roundness, diameter and more – of many products and components is part of the daily work of numerous job profiles in manufacturing and industrial companies. The development of dexterity and expertise in the application, maintenance and even storage of common handheld measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, rulers, gauges...) as well as the correct interpretation of technical drawings are fundamental skills that companies expect from their employees.

Practice leads to perfecttion ... with the right learning tools!

To increase the capabilities in the field of dimensional metrology, extensive practical experiments are of central importance. Apprentices are optimally prepared for the world of work by carrying out a variety of laboratory activities with variable complexity and close practical relevance. Our learning platform Festo LX offers the perfect basis for teachers and learners with theory, e-Lab courses and practical tasks.

The learning system for transmission technology

The Transmission Technology Learning System is a compact training device and contains the necessary tools and measuring devices for the individual modules.
The machine elements supplied, such as pulleys, gears, chains and bearings, are suitable for industrial use and yet small enough to be carried out comfortably in the work platform. To optimize organization, storage and inventory control, the various components are neatly stored on storage boards.

These can either be mounted on the wall, on the separately available suspension or stored in the optional workbench. Based on the working platform, the system can be expanded with six expansion stages. The first two stages build on each other and primarily deal with basic competencies related to the assembly and commissioning of belt, chain and gear drives.

In stage 3, coupling and shaft alignment methods can be learned and the design and assembly of bearings and seals in housings and shafts can be examined. Level 4 covers the basics of applying and braking loads and building a linear slide with ball screws and linear bearings. Two concluding packages deal with vibrations and vibration measurement in mechanical drives up to the analysis of the waveform.

The system covers the following maintenance work

  • Maintenance: cleaning, lubrication, adjustment
  • Inspection: Measuring, testing, diagnosing
  • Repair: Repair, repair, replacement
  • Installation and commissioning

Advantages

  • Practical, modular design
  • Ergonomic design
  • Quick and easy setup
  • Consistent concept
  • Broad range of topics and experiments
  • Including tools and test equipment
