Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit

Make the most of a tailored analysis of your compressed air systems for long-term, sustainable savings

The Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit, as part of the Festo Energy Saving Services, offers you an independent and comprehensive analysis of your compressed air system. The condition of all components, from the compressor to the pneumatic application, is inspected – with complete impartiality. Tangible potential savings are then identified and specific measures are proposed to optimise your systems and installations. The result: reduced energy costs, lower CO₂ emissions and greater production stability without unplanned machine downtime.

An overview of the service modules

Our auditors analyse your entire compressed air system using the Compressed Air Energy Efficiency Audit, from the compressor room to the pneumatic application. They identify if compressed air is being used inefficiently, locate leakages and make recommendations for optimisation. Our auditors inspect the compressed air generation and compressor utilisation, compressed air preparation and quality as well as the complete compressed air network. In addition, they carry out a sample leak detection test on selected pneumatic systems, check the pneumatic efficiency and evaluate the potential savings.

The benefits to you

  • Analysis of the actual condition of the complete compressed air system, from the compressor to the pneumatic application
  • Recommendations for action and prioritisation of measures for optimising energy efficiency
  • TÜV-certified in accordance with ISO 11011
  • Support in compliance with ISO 50001
  • Energy savings of up to 60% can be achieved in pneumatic systems
  • Improved productivity and process reliability

A four-step audit is how the entire compressed air system is put to the test

In the first three steps, the energy efficiency experts from Festo analyse the compressed air generation, compressed air preparation and compressed air distribution of the overall system. Then, in the fourth step, they inspect the pneumatic applications, i.e. the machines and systems themselves. They analyse the energy efficiency of these machines and systems and locate leakages.

1. Analysing compressed air generation

Manufacturer-independent analysis during operation to check the energy consumption and output reserves of the compressors as well as the overall leakage level in the production system.

The benefits to you

  • Manufacturer-independent analysis
  • Analysis during operation
  • Transparent energy consumption of the entire system
  • Knowledge of the output reserves of the compressors

 Analysing compressed air generation

2. Analysing compressed air preparation

Additional measurement of the compressed air quality. The goal: to increase the service life of the pneumatic components and prevent machine failures.

The benefits to you

  • Guarantee of optimum compressed air quality
  • Increased service life of pneumatic components
  • Minimising unexpected production downtime
  • Compressed air preparation adjusted as necessary

Analysing compressed air preparation

3. Analysing compressed air distribution

Measuring the pressure drop for reliable processes and reduced costs. This is to ensure a constant pressure level, even when the pressure level is reduced.

The benefits to you

  • Reliable processes thanks to uniform pressure level
  • Identification of unnecessary overpressure
  • Reduction in pressure and pressure fluctuations
  • Cost savings thanks to lower pressure level

Analysing compressed air distribution

4. Analysing pneumatic applications

Checking if drives, valves and tubing are optimally sized, and if blowing and vacuum applications as well as installation and control concepts are efficiently designed. Detecting and documenting leakages as the most important efficiency measure.

The benefits to you

  • Transparency of energy and money lost as well as CO₂ emissions caused by leakages
  • Detailed list of necessary repairs including recommended spare parts
