EuroSkills is the European Championship for young people in non-academic vocational training. WorldSkills Europe, the European umbrella organisation, works with its members and partners to promote training and make it attractive. The partnership between WorldSkills Europe and Festo is based on shared values. Festo fulfils its social responsibility by qualifying young professionals in technical professions.
In 2023, the European Skills Championship will be held in the port city of Gdansk in Poland.
WorldSkills Europe relies on experienced partners. Festo has innovation and problem-solving expertise in all areas of factory and process automation. This is why Festo has been at the side of WorldSkills Europe since the first EuroSkills competitions in Rotterdam in 2008. Festo has been a premium sponsor since 2022. Festo has been cooperating with WorldSkills International on a global level as a Global Industry Partner since 1991. New disciplines such as Industry 4.0, water technology or renewable energies are the result of joint projects to deal with current technology trends and introduce them into vocational training and the labour market.
The young professionals will put all their talent and skills to the test at the European Championship. In just a few event days, they will be relying on their intensive preparation for the competition. In the competition for the gold, silver or bronze medals, all participants have been using components, software and training systems from Festo Didactic since 2008.
The interaction of mechanics, electrical engineering and information technology is demanding. The participants create a flawless production system from individual components. Successfully designing this system requires comprehensive understanding of the processes and control of automated production plants. Festo Didactic is constantly advancing the Modular Production System (MPS) in line with current technology trends and integrating new applications. The MPS is official competition equipment and complies with the regulations of WorldSkills Europe.
The Festo LX online portal offers teachers and students a user-friendly entry point for designing individual learning experiences. This is done with the help of many online courses, assignments, e-books and other learning materials for various technical topics. Participants and trainers have everything they need to optimally prepare for the competitions. Actual competition tasks from past WorldSkills competitions can be called up in Festo LX. In the future, the offer will be rounded out with additional assignments after the respective events. As they work through them, students develop a sense of the performance level of the competitions.
It is not only in challenging times that Europe's competitiveness depends heavily on a stable economy. Companies need enough well-trained skilled workers to be successful. The European Union supports Europe's largest educational event for exactly this reason and focuses on training young people. The motto of the European Skills Championship is "United by skills. We can change the world" because skills strengthen our community and inspire young people to make a positive difference in their lives.
