WorldSkills is the leading platform for comparing international performance in vocational training professions. Festo participates in the WorldSkills Championships in various roles: as a global industry partner (GIP) and as a competition participant with Festo’s own trainees. We are active in various competitive disciplines, such as mechatronics, water technology, industrial mechanics, and renewable energy. During the 2019 competitions in Kazan, Russia, the hot topic of Industry 4.0 was still treated as a “future skill.” At the competitions in Shanghai, China, Industry 4.0 became an official discipline for the first time. Festo provides, among other things, the workstations at which the international teams compete for the medals.

Festo supports young people during their training in technical professions and beyond with great commitment. EuroSkills has recognized Festo as a premium sponsor of the European Skills Championship. Festo has been providing the official competition equipment for mechatronics skill competitions for 15 years. On the Modular Production System (MPS) learning system, the young participants from all over the world demonstrate their excellent skills in the field of automation technology.

The FIRST® LEGO® League is a support program that introduces children and young people to technology and scientific research through play. The annual robotics competitions motivate the young researchers to solve tasks on given topics with innovative ideas and team spirit. On competition day, each team goes through three jury evaluations: Robot Design, Research as well as Teamwork and takes part in a "Robot Game" over three rounds with the specially developed robot.
The international RoboCup community aims to promote the development of intelligent robots through competitions and to offer scientists and students from all over the world an attractive test environment for their robots. In addition to promoting this idea, Festo supports as part of the Industrial Logistics League. Multi-agent planning problems from research meet sensor and navigation problems from robotics, thus translating the challenges for solution manufacturers for highly flexible production and goods flows in the age of Industry 4.0.
