Reference Lab

Project description

The Center of Excellence for Industrial Automation and Mechatronics is an initiative which emerged from the cooperation between the government of Uruguay (Ministerio de Industria, Energía y Minería) and UNIDO.

The center offers training designed to increase the employability of the UTU (Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay) students, as well as industrial productivity at the local and regional levels.

The FACT Center in Montevideo houses four labs – Multimedia and Simulation, Electricity, Electronics, and Drive Technology, Fluid Power, and a hybrid learning factory. The FACT Center was established in 2015.

Instituto Tecnologico Centroamericano

Reference Project: FACT Center

Project description

The FACT Center in San Salvador is a joint project of the ITCA and German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) to establish a dual training program. Festo Didactic not only designed the layout of the labs, but also assisted in the project coordination.

The FACT Center houses three labs. One is equipped with basic technology for mechatronics, the other two with flexible manufacturing systems using process and industrial automation. One for dual training, the other for industrial training.
The FACT Center was established in three phases: 2008, 2011, and 2012.

UDB – Universidad Don Bosco

Reference Project: Training Environment

Project description

The FACT Center at the Universidad Don Bosco (UDB) in El Salvador is equipped with a computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) system to effectively plan and design the entire industrial manufacturing process.
Production planning and organization are the main topics of the flexible manufacturing system (FMS).

The aim of UDB is to equip the students with the technical expertise they need to become certified specialists in automation technology and industrial automation. The center also offers courses for industrial engineers and technicians in the field of flexible manufacturing in industrial automation.

The FACT Center in Don Bosco houses one lab with an iCIM system – Industrial Robotics and CAD/CAM/CNC.

The FACT Center was established in 2010.

Philipp-Matthäus-Hahn-Schule

Reference Project: Lab Equipment for Industry 4.0/Industrial Internet of Things

Project description

In 2015, the school received the go-ahead for the project, which was backed by the state of Baden-Württemberg and funded by regional businesses.

The learning labs were received enthusiastically by the vocational and technical students, teachers, and local industries. The school will be an important partner for many regional industrial companies in the future, offering specialized training tailored to the requirements of the respective production areas.

The Philipp-Matthäus-Hahn-Schule purchased five learning labs – CNC Mill, CNC Lathe, Hydraulics, Mechatronics, and Industry 4.0/Industrial Internet of Things.

The learning labs were installed in 2016.

Reference Project: Multifunctional Learning Lab

Project description

The training workshop is equipped with multifunctional learning labs for pneumatics, mechatronics, and industrial automation.

It offers a wide range of possible applications for collaborative engineering. The variable-use furniture allows the room layout to be adapted quickly and easily to suit changing needs. The learning space can also be expanded at any time.

The flexible media supply and the adaptable furniture concept by TecDesign are ideal for both theoretical and hands-on teaching, with the right equipment for every learning environment.

The multifunctional learning lab was opened in 2016.

The FACT Center at the Abu Dhabi Polytechnic (ADPoly) is equipped with basic fluid power technology, as well as process and industrial automation.

The aim of ADPoly is to qualify students to become process and automation technology professionals.

The institute offers a dual education system of the highest international standards to ensure a knowledge-based economy in the UAE.

Project description

Beijing's FACT Center houses six labs with state-of-the-art training equipment, providing an ideal environment for application-driven learning.

The training content includes pneumatics, electropneumatics, hydraulics, electrohydraulics, and PLC and control technology, as well as the essential processes in a flexible manufacturing system.

The aim of the FACT Center is to increase the employability of its students through targeted training. In the future, the FACT Center will also offer training courses for plant operators, maintenance personnel, and R&D specialists.

Since its establishment in 2009, the FACT Center has gained a reputation as a professional and competent partner for vocational education and training .

The FACT Center at the C.V. Raman College of Engineering in India is equipped with process automation training equipment covering all levels of mechatronics, from fundamentals to flexible manufacturing systems.

Project description

The Vocational Training Centers (VTC) have become one of the key occupational sources of support to the Omani labor market, providing knowledge, skills, and competent graduates who can go on to contribute to the country's economic development.

The Vocational Training Center houses a combination of two labs in one – Fundamentals of Mechatronics, and Flexible Manufacturing Systems through Process and Industrial Automation.

The Center of Excellence was established in three phases: Fundamentals of Mechatronics in 2007 and Flexible Manufacturing through Industrial and Process Automation in 2008 and 2010.

Industrial Training Center Sinde

Reference Project: Myanmar Training Center

Project description

Funding made available to the Ministry of Industry in Naypyitaw by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) Frankfurt enabled the acquisition of the necessary equipment for the Sinde Vocational Training Program.

The aim of the program is to equip the students with the necessary technical skills and abilities to increase their employability, and in the long run, decrease poverty and unemployment, which benefits the local economy.

The Industrial Training Center houses many different labs – Electronics, Mechatronics, Control Technology, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and Building Automation, Refrigeration Technology, Machining Technology, Mold and Tool Making, EDM, Measurement Technology, CAD/CAM/CNC, Metalworking, and Welding Technology.

The Training Center was established in 2016/2017.

ITF - Industrial Training Fund Abuja

Project description


The Center of Excellence in Abuja is equipped with basic principles of industrial drive technology and process and factory automation. The ITF takes part in the accreditation process of the “National Board for Technical Education” (NBTE). The aim of the ITF is to equip the students with technical expertise in industrial drive technology, as well as in process and automation technology.
The ITF also offers various training modules for industrial engineers and technicians.
The learning labs also serve as a research center. The Center of Excellence in Abuja houses two labs – Industrial Drive Technology and Flexible Manufacturing through Process and Industrial Automation. The Center of Excellence was established in 2017.

Project description

The FACT Center at the Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti is equipped with basic technology for fluid engineering, and process and manufacturing automation, as well as a hybrid learning factory.

The aim of ABUAD is to equip its students with the technical skills and abilities to qualify them as certified specialists in automation technology and manufacturing and process automation.

The university also offers courses for industrial engineers and technicians in the area of manufacturing and automation technology. The FACT Center was established in 2015.

Zeenni’s Trading Agency and Industries

Project description

The reason for the establishment of the FACT Center for Mechatronics was a lack of knowledge of university graduates, who could not fulfill the application-driven qualification requirements of local industry. To remedy the problem, a local company decided to work with Festo to establish a FACT Center to train its own staff, as well as local industry professionals.

In the meantime, the FACT Center, in cooperation with a local university, has established a new branch that offers students demand-driven education solutions.

The FACT Center is equipped with basic mechatronics technology and houses two labs – Fluid Power Technology/CAD/CAM/CNC and Flexible Process and Industrial Automation.
The FACT Center was established in 2008.

Nile University, Cairo

Reference Project: FACT Center, Nile University

Project description

Nile University has partnered with Festo to establish the FACT Center Cairo as part of the TEMPUS project (Advanced Engineering Systems: Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry), which is capable of reaching out to industrial companies and meeting their technology and training needs.

The educational expertise of Festo, which is integrated into the Nile University labs, is customized to answer the needs of Egyptian industry. The training content of the labs covers pneumatics, sensors, and safety and control technology, as well as the commissioning, troubleshooting, and control of flexible manufacturing systems.

The FACT Center was established in two phases: Phase 1 in 2012, Basic Mechatronic Technologies, MPS® 200/MPS® PA, and Phase 2 in 2015, CAD/CAM/CNC .

Project description

The FACT Center in Lagos is a successful collaboration between the Lagos State Government and Festo. Festo has developed a training plan, based on the principle of "learning by doing," that promotes student employability and the productivity of employees from industry.

The organization and management of the training program is handled by Festo Nigeria.

The FACT Center consists of two labs – Multimedia and Simulation/Fundamentals of Mechatronics, and Advanced Training in Industrial and Process Automation.
The FACT Center was established in 2012.

The FACT Center at the ISET (Institut Supérieur des Études Technologiques) in Tunisia is equipped with a flexible manufacturing system (FMS) to ensure the effective operation of the entire industrial manufacturing process, with a focus on industrial automation.

The aim of ISET is to equip its students with the technical skills and abilities required to become certified experts in automation technology and industrial automation.

The institute also offers a wide range of courses for industrial engineers and technicians. The FACT Center in Mahdia houses one lab with a flexible manufacturing system.

The FACT Center was established in 2014.
