Position transmitter and proximity switch in one device: the SDAS-MHS for T-slots

The SDAS-MHS is used for contactless feedback of the piston position with drives whose position can be sensed magnetically.
It combines two functions into a single device:

In the operating mode as position transmitter, the device continuously tracks the motion of the piston and delivers this information via IO-Link®. It is the same size as a proximity switch and enables continuous position feedback, especially for small drives such as compact cylinders and grippers.

In the operating mode as proximity switch, it is possible to program 2 switching points. The application is significantly more compact, especially with small cylinders and grippers, since no space is required for a second proximity switch. The switching points are set accurately electronically and not by manually adjusting the sensor by an operator.

The set-up of the sensor via the teach button is much faster compared to the manual adjustment of two conventional proximity switches. The possibility of directly programming PNP/NPN on the device reduces the part numbers and versions to stock.

Operating mode: proximity switch

  • Mainly used for small drives such as compact cylinders and grippers with a T-slot
  • Two switching points can be defined in the sensing range of the SDAS-MHS via teach-in
  • No need to install two proximity switches

Operating mode: position transmitter

  • Mainly used for small drives such as compact cylinders and grippers with a T-slot
  • Within the sensing range, customers receive continuous position feedback of the piston motion
  • General areas of application include process monitoring and object detection
