The future of machine design

Even those who are already thinking beyond the next generation of machines and are looking for a technology that will remain stable over the coming years and adaptively support future developments will find exactly the right technology in theVTUX valve terminal with AP communication technology.

Serial and parallel communication

Internal serial linkage (performance version) offers extended communication options and provides fast bidirectional AP communication and increased efficiency. Internal serial linkage also enables extended diagnostic functions and makes it easy to integrate the digital inputs directly in the valve. It supports the connection of up to 128 valve coils, significantly more than parallel linkage (basic version), which is limited to 32 valve coils and provides unidirectional control signals. Internal serial communication gives you an excellent infrastructure for future technology functions.

The installation location of the valve terminals can be freely defined

With the new generation VTUX, the position of the terminals in the machine can be defined completely freely and independently, as can their size and placement. The more comprehensive functions are simply placed where there is more free space. Where conditions demand stronger restrictions, you place only the elements that are immediately necessary.

Integrated functions

The VTUX offers a wide range of integrated functions that significantly increase efficiency and user-friendliness. One feature is the valves with digital inputs, which enable simple assignment. Whether via M8 connections or PNP/NPN signals – integration is uncomplicated and flexible. The valve terminals also feature innovative vacuum solutions with an air-saving function that not only conserves resources but also optimizes operating costs. The internal serial communication enables easy access to parameters and diagnostics, which considerably simplifies system maintenance and monitoring. These functions make VTUX a powerful solution for modern automation requirements.

Highly flexible VTUX valve terminal

Your benefits:

  • Real-time communication through AP technology
  • Combination with CPX-AP-A remote I/O system for central installation concepts
  • Combination with AP-I interface for decentralized installation concepts
  • Pure vacuum islands or mixable with switching valves

This video shows you the modularity of VTUX for a centralized or decentralized installation as well as the combination of switching valves and vacuum units as required:

VTUX valve terminal with vacuum function

Your benefits:

  • Vacuum and ejector pulse can be individually controlled
  • Integrated air-saving function for vacuum generation
  • Integrated vacuum sensor feedback for process control and cycle time control
  • Monitoring of evacuation and venting times (condition monitoring) for preventive maintenance

In this video you can see how easy it is to implement customized vacuum solutions with VTUX – with a mixture of switching valves and vacuum units or with vacuum units only:

Digital inputs on the VTUX valve terminal for sensors

Your benefits:

  • Direct assignment of the pneumatic actuator to the sensor feedback possible
  • Very compact and small in size
  • Adapter for easy mounting and high packing density of the sensor inputs

Take a look at how cleverly the decentralized connection of sensors – PNP or NPN – to the VTUX valve terminal has been solved. Sensors with an M8 connection or open end can also be connected:

Centralized or decentralized machine concept

Central machine installation with VTUX valve terminal

Your benefits:

  • A central shared bus node for communication with the control system
  • VTUX can be connected to the standard Ethernet-based fieldbuses via the remote I/O system
  • Central, easily accessible sensor inputs on the remote I/O system
  • A lot of infrastructure can be integrated on the shared central unit without major assembly work
  • The individual modules are connected via the robust backbone without additional lines

In this video you can see a central installation concept with VTUX in a machine frame in combination with a modular remote I/O system CPX-AP-A:

Decentralized machine installation with VTUX valve terminal

Your benefits:

  • Compact, lightweight valve terminal with switching valves, sensor inputs and vacuum generator in one unit
  • Proximity to the process for short energy-saving hoses to the pneumatic drives and high-performance response times
  • Energy-efficient vacuum generation due to minimal evacuation times thanks to the short hoses
  • Digital inputs for sensor connection directly at the front end
  • Vacuum generation including air-saving function
  • Real-time communication via AP technology to VTUX

This video shows the decentralized installation of VTUX in a pick and place application with linear and rotary movements as well as part pick-up by vacuum:

An overview of the features of the VTUX valve terminal

Parallel and decentralized: VTUX-A-P-..

Internal parallel linkage provides unidirectional control signals and supports the connection of up to 32 valve coils. This gives you a cost-efficient platform with integrated vacuum functions. The VTUX valve terminal also has decentralized installation options offering the following benefits:

  • Short tubing for reduced air consumption and high dynamic response
  • Electrical lines for bridging the following distances:
    – between AP subscribers up to 50 m
    – between IO-Link® devices up to 20 m
  • Shorter cycle times

Parallel and central: VTUX-A-P-APA-..

Internal parallel linkage provides unidirectional control signals and supports the connection of up to 32 valve coils. This gives you a cost-effective platform with integrated vacuum functions without sensor feedback. In addition, the VTUX valve terminal has central installation options offering the following benefits, among others:

  • Clearly arranged
  • Easy to access and maintain
  • Can be extended at specific points
  • Less assembly and grounding effort

Serial and decentralized: VTUX-A-S-..

Internal serial linkage offers bidirectional communication and supports the connection of up to 128 valve coils. You also have the option of configuring the VTUX valve terminal with additional functions such as digital inputs directly on the valve or integrated vacuum functions including a vacuum sensor. Moreover, the VTUX valve terminal has decentralized installation options offering the following benefits:
