Every summer, we fill one apprenticeship position as a Businesswoman / Businessman in the mechanical, electrical and metal industry MEM. The apprenticeship consists of on-the-job training at the training company and school-based training at the vocational school. In addition, general skills are taught in inter-company courses. A professional apprenticeship in various departments of our company guarantees you an exciting apprenticeship period and gives you a sound knowledge of the respective field of activity. We cultivate an open and uncomplicated culture and offer our apprentices not only practical training but also intensive support and an insight into an international company.

Every two years we offer a high-quality design apprenticeship in the E profile. In this technical apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to acquire up-to-date knowledge in the field of design.

Training location:
During the first 2 years, you will be intensively introduced to and prepared for the profession of design engineer at the libs training centre in Baden, both in terms of schooling and craftsmanship.
During the 3rd and 4th year of your apprenticeship, you will work in our varied company in Lupfig in the design team of the Technical & Application Center department and design our assemblies, handling projects and special designs. In addition, you will have the opportunity to gain experience at our headquarters in Germany during the school holidays.

Dream job: wish and reality
It is often not easy to choose a career after leaving school. Festo offers support during this orientation phase: Taster work placements, discussions with trainees and trainers give young people the opportunity to get to know different occupational fields. They can test whether the desired profession also matches their own abilities in practice.
Training content
During their training, young people get to know a wide variety of company departments. We focus on innovative training concepts. In addition, we enable an exchange with our worldwide companies and branches. An extensive programme of additional training courses offers apprentices the opportunity to learn about various topics. They also have access to our internal training facility: the Festo Academy. Here they can also take online courses.
Multi-stage application procedure
We have developed a three-stage selection process to select our trainees. Our aim is not so much to find the applicants with the best formal performance, but rather those who fit in best with us.
Step 1: We analyse the application documents. Important criteria are: Completeness, informative value, tidiness and cleanliness as well as creativity.
Step 2: Suitable applicants are invited to a group and individual interview to find out the key qualifications that are important to us (ability to work in a team, communication skills, problem-solving ability, ability to learn, self-direction and independence). After that, it is decided who will advance one round.
Step 3: If the result is positive, you will have a 1 - 5 day trial apprenticeship, where you will get to know the stations of the apprenticeship in different departments and be given simple tasks. If you convince us of your commitment, willingness and ability during this trial apprenticeship, we will conclude an apprenticeship contract together.
Parents and Festo
We work very closely with you as the parents of our apprentices. The better we are networked, the more comprehensively and qualitatively we can support your daughter or son in their learning together. That's why we offer you parents' evenings at regular intervals, for example. In these, we inform you about important processes and would like to have an open exchange with you.
Doing an apprenticeship at Festo means much more than just having an apprenticeship. After all, the well-being of our employees is very important to us, which is why we do everything we can to achieve the goals we set together. Here are a few special features:
Holidays
The holiday entitlement is 29 working days per school year. It is possible to take holiday days in advance for the following year in the current year.
Textbooks
All textbooks for apprentices are covered for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
Language stay
Festo will provide CHF 795.00 and 2 weeks of working time for a language stay for apprentices. A maximum of two language stays can be made during the apprenticeship period.
Foreign assignment
If they perform well, we offer our apprentices a two-week stay abroad in Esslingen. This allows them to get to know the processes and culture of our parent company and to expand their personal network.
Training on the road
Every year we organise a one-day excursion with all apprentices from all three locations (Festo Lupfig, Festo Microtechnology Pieterlen and Eichenberger Gewinde AG), which has both an educational and a fun component. The excursion is put together and organised by the apprentices themselves.
