Automation technicians EFZ work wherever automated systems are in use. Most of them work in the industrial environment of the mechanical, electrical and metal industries (MEM industries), but also in electrical engineering, building technology or transport technology.
Thanks to their versatile and demanding training, they can be used in a wide range of applications. You will work in a networked environment and be in constant exchange with other specialists, customers and suppliers. Her everyday life includes both manual activities and work on the computer. Their workplace is in internal workshops, in the office or directly at the customer's site. Clients are internal and external customers.
Automation technicians EFZ plan, manufacture and commission fully and partially automated systems in compliance with the applicable standards. They create the associated software programs and visualizations, network the systems and ensure secure data traffic. To do this, they independently obtain the necessary information.
As automation specialists, they carry out subsequent maintenance tasks, repairs or extensions independently and in compliance with the specifications. During commissioning, they test the software and carry out function and quality controls.
They analyze faults with the help of measuring instruments and analysis software, develop proposed solutions and carry them out professionally. You will create or adapt technical documentation with the help of computer-aided means.
They often work in a team and make effective use of their technical, social and personal skills. They constantly reflect on their actions and develop further in the process.
Automation technicians EFZ understand the entire functions of automated systems. As specialists, they network the various technologies of electrical engineering, fluid technology, mechanics and computer science. In doing so, they work closely with other specialists.
You will implement orders and projects independently or in a team and carry them out systematically and independently. In doing so, they observe occupational safety and health protection. They are open, flexible and innovative. Automation technicians have a keen interest in new things, especially new technologies. They take responsibility and develop creative solutions.
Automation technicians EFZ are characterized by their economical and at the same time ecological thinking and acting. Their work enables necessary developments to achieve decarbonization, as well as climate and energy goals. They observe legal rules and regulations and thus make a contribution to society and nature. They observe the principles of environmental protection, use resources efficiently and support the use of renewable energies, including their storage.
