Field of work

Polymechanics EFZ work in the industrial environment as generalists in technical product development, production and maintenance. You will be involved in the development of design solutions, the planning and preparation of production processes, production, quality assurance, commissioning and maintenance. In doing so, they work closely with other experts in the mechanical, electrical and metal industries (MEM industries).
Polymechanics EFZ work in modern production companies at different workplaces. They develop, plan, produce and maintain components, assemblies, machines, systems, production equipment and tools for internal and external clients. Thanks to their broad training, they are employed in various areas of work such as parts production, décolletage, assembly and maintenance. They are active in industries such as general mechanical engineering, medical technology, elevator construction, aircraft technology, sheet metal fabrication and others.

Key competencies

Polymechanics EFZ carry out both manual and mechanical activities in a targeted, professional, systematic and responsible manner and use the means of production in a goal-oriented manner. You have a strong technical understanding and can interpret technical documents correctly.

They observe and analyze the production processes, identify optimization potential and, if necessary, make improvements. They are characterized by their technical, economic and at the same time ecological thinking and acting.

In the realization of their orders and projects, they work in production on computerized numerical control (CNC)-controlled and conventional machine tools as well as with measuring instruments or in development and design departments with state-of-the-art computer aided design (CAD) computer aided manufacturing (CAM) systems. In doing so, they independently obtain the necessary information, work in accordance with applicable regulations and standards, and document the work process and the measurement results in a comprehensible manner.

Because polymechanics EFZ understand the technical facts and processes and can interpret them correctly, they are competent contact persons for internal and external customers in a wide range of specialist areas, such as development, design or control technology. In doing so, they express themselves clearly and comprehensibly in speech and writing. They document processes and create operating manuals, using correct technical language.

Polymechanics EFZ act and interact in a networked, industrial working environment. They are in close contact with specialists from development to quality assurance and take on important key functions. They work independently or in teams and make effective use of their technical, methodological, social and personal skills. They reflect on their actions and are constantly evolving.

Professional practice

Polymechanics EFZ have a pronounced inclination towards new technologies and enjoy innovative, technical solutions. They show interest in mechanics, pneumatics and automation. In the development and manufacture of the products, they used technologies from the digital world of work. With their precise way of working and their quality awareness, they contribute to the success of the company.

It is characterized by the fact that polymechanics EFZ react flexibly and quickly to changing conditions, especially in the field of new technologies. They are able to competently use new systems of the networked digital working world. You will analyze challenging situations and develop innovative solutions.

Polymechanics EFZ take responsibility for the machines and systems they use, but also for occupational safety and health protection.

Significance

Polymechanics EFZ produce forward-looking and sustainable technical products that are used effectively in the areas of society, business, nature and culture, taking into account ecological and economic aspects. They observe the principles of environmental protection, use resources efficiently and support the use of renewable energies, including their storage. In doing so, they pay particular attention to energy and resource efficiency. Their work enables the necessary developments to achieve decarbonization as well as the climate and energy goals.
