Explosion prevention and protection

The directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX)

The ATEX directive 94/9/EC was replaced by 2014/34/EU as part of the new legislative framework. This directive aligns the various requirements within the EU with the aim of ensuring a uniform safety standard and removing obstacles to trade.
The directive 2014/34/EU also supplements the earlier directives. One particular aspect of the directive is that non-electrical devices such as pneumatic drives now also have to be approved.

You can currently choose from over 7,700 Festo products that have been certified for particular categories of explosion protection. More will follow. We are actively working on this.
