This year’s UK Skills event took place over the 19th – 21st November at the NEC and as a global partner Festo were once again sponsoring the Mechatronics and Industrial Control sectors.
With places for the 44th World skills final taking place in Abu Dhabi and Gold, silver and bronze medals also being fought for, the competition this year was very tough. UTC Sheffield and Toyota took Gold medals in the Mechatronics events and The Automation Technology Group secured the Gold in the Industrial Control sector.
In addition to the competition Festo also hosted a stand to promote engineering to the 80,000 plus attendee’s over the three days. We also attracted a great deal of discussion from leading manufacturers such as Toyota, Jaguar LandRover and The MTC with our work on the TrailBlazer program for apprentices being at the top of the list.
Days one and two of the exhibition focus on visitors from within the education system with the Saturday seeing more families attending for specific career advice. The Festo Ball Juggler, DJ Robots and Air Motion ride ensured the audience were entertained and the Festo stand team ensured that careers in engineering were shown to be exciting, professional and enjoyable.
