Year 7 DT students from Corby Technical School visit Festo

We were pleased to welcome pupils from Corby Technical School recently to our Northampton head quarters. They are all studying Design Technology and volunteered for the trip as they were keen to see what an automation company does. They were excited by our DJ Robots and the dynamic displays in our exhibition rooms and enjoyed presentations on our Bionic R&D concepts.

After a short introduction to both Festo and pneumatics they carried out practical workshops including the difference between a pneumatic cylinder and a Festo Fluid Muscle and making their own fishtail gripper mechanism out of card.  A tour around the Festo display area and a look at Modular Production System rigs that we use for training our apprentices were topped by watching the DJ robots in action.

They were very interested in what subjects they should pick for their GCSE's and A-Levels in order to progress in careers in engineering. Festo are firmly committed to inspiring and developing young engineers for the future. This encompasses support of local schools, colleges and universities within a variety of programs and events.
