Festo were very pleased to support the Motion Control Industry Awards 2017 and extremely proud that our very own Gary Wyles won the Lifetime Contribution Award. Also, jointly with Siemens, Festo was a finalist in the 'Technical Innovation of the Year' category for our innovative Multi-Carrier-System. We were also very happy to see Thorite, one of our Technical Distributors, win the Distributor of the Year award - they are a leading supplier of air compressors, air tools, pneumatics and process products.
Gary Wyles, who recently stepped down from Festo as Managing Director after a long successful career with us so he could spend more time supporting the development of leaders and leadership teams in SMEs, was presented the Lifetime Contribution Award. This is awarded to the individual who, in the opinion of the UK Motion Control Alliance, has made a significant and consistent contribution to the motion control industry over the duration of his/her career.
Siemens and Festo jointly entered the 'Technical Innovation of the Year' category with the Multi-Carrier-System - a major innovation for the packaging industry with a unique linear motor track solution. It delivers a flexible and modular transport solution for packaging and industrial automation to meet today’s demand for higher machine throughput and increased overall machine efficiency at a lower cost than alternative solutions. The collaboration brings together the extensive controls capability and expertise of Siemens, with Festo’s cutting edge linear motor and mechanical guidance technology.
The Gala Awards dinner took place on Tuesday 9th May 2017 at The National Conference Centre in Birmingham. Stand-up comedian Dominic Holland hosted the event and there were good opportunities to network with other guests from the Motion Control Industry.
