
As part of the efforts to leave a worthy legacy behind, especially in the area of Technical Education in Lagos State, the out-going governor of the state, Mr Raji Babatunde Fasola, on Monday, commissioned a Festo Authorised and Certified Training (FACT) Centre in the Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Lagos for the promotion of automation and mechatronics education in the state and in Nigeria.
The technical centre in collaboration with Festo Didactic Limited, a foremost German industrial automation company and Lagos State government through the Lagos Eko Education Project initiative.
Speaking at the event, the governor disclosed that the objective of the FACT Centre was to develop skills that would lead directly to employment.
He was delighted that his administration had invested significantly in technical education in order to make it attractive, as a career option; create opportunities for entrepreneurship and increase opportunity for further academic pursuit for students.
“It is our hope that with the exposure of students to modern technologies, there will be increased opportunities for them in different industries,” he stated.
