REACh = Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals
Registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals
Chemicals policy was comprehensively restructured with these elements. REACh has been in force since June 2007 and regulates chemicals law in Europe. Its goal is to protect people and the environment as well as to centrally record all information about chemical substances in Europe.
For the first time, a chemicals law also covers substances in products. As a manufacturer of products, Festo is therefore obliged to provide information if substances of very high concern (SVHC) are part of Festo products.
After the REACh regulation came into force in June 2007, Festo AG & Co. KG began to check its product range regularly for SVHC. If there is more than 0.1% weight by weight of a substance on the candidate list in one of our products, we will immediately comply with our duty to inform in accordance with article 33 of the REACh regulation.
Information about SVHCs (Substances of Very High Concern) in products
On 10th September 2015, the European Court of Justice clarified the definition of a product for the purposes of the REACh Directive. If the limit value of 0.1m% for a substance of very high concern (SVHC) is exceeded in an installed sub-product, the product in question must be registered in accordance with Art.33 (1) of the REACh Directive – without regard to the m% content of the whole product. Thereupon we re-assesed our products and inform here about
