Festo has a presence in 176 countries around the world. Nearly half of our 20,000 employees worldwide work at the Esslingen am Neckar and St. Ingbert locations or at one of our sales offices in Germany.
Our corporate centre in Esslingen, near Stuttgart, is at heart of the global Festo Group. The Esslingen location also includes the training facility in Esslingen-Berkheim – the technology plant which produces valves, valve terminals and electronics in Ostfildern-Scharnhausen – and the buildings housing the process automation, LifeTech and Didactic divisions in Denkendorf.
Innovative, resource-efficient and sustainable working environment concepts are important to us. This is demonstrated at the Automation Centre, the Technology Centre and the Scharnhausen Technology Plant, which feature lots of natural light, a friendly environment and open spaces, which in the case of the Technology Centre, for instance, results in an office setting that is wholly tailored to communication and teamwork. Through its combination of technology and solutions, it meets the stringent specifications for a low-energy building. The energetic interplay between building equipment and production systems is also balanced at the Technology Plant. Its low consumption and minimal emissions are proof of this.
The town of Esslingen and the Stuttgart region
Esslingen runs the gamut between tradition and modernity – from the medieval charm of its historic old town to the modern urban area and the town’s lively cultural and recreational scene.
With 90,000 residents, Esslingen is a stunning rural location, just a short distance from the nearby state capital of Baden-Württemberg. The region has a total of 2.7 million inhabitants, is internationally recognised as an outstanding hub of business and technology and offers a standard of living that is among the best anywhere in Germany.
The region’s diversity means that people with all kinds of lifestyles will find what they’re looking for here, from trendy quarters in large cities to family-friendly residential areas. Our setting in the heart of Swabia is not only a great place to work, but also a wonderful place to live.
Opened in 1968, this production and logistics centre covers an area the size of 13 football pitches with around 2,800 employees today. Electric and pneumatic drives as well as cylinders are manufactured here for our customers in central Europe. The perfectly integrated logistics system also means that 75% of orders are shipped within 24 hours. Moreover, the St. Ingbert location is also home to Festo’s Saar learning centre and Festo Polymer GmbH in Hassel.
An innovative energy concept has been implemented at St. Ingbert, just as it has at the company headquarters. It combines several different forms of technology: a combined heat and power unit and a photovoltaic system generate energy on site, thus providing a reliable supply of electricity, heating and cooling.
The town and the wider region
‘Work successfully; live joyfully.’ – St. Ingbert can make that a reality. The town is home to 40,000 residents and lies within the Saarpfalz district, only a few minutes’ drive from the town of Saarbrücken. Most of the Saarland state’s economic power is concentrated in this region. With its setting and all that it has to offer, St. Ingbert is one of Saarland’s prime residential towns.
Saarbrücken, Homburg, Neunkirchen and Saarland University can be reached quickly and easily from there. What’s more, the people of St. Ingbert live in the heart of the countryside. With its forests, lakes and nature reserves, the scenic area offers a wide range of activities for nature lovers. Well over 300 clubs and associations provide a wide variety of cultural activities.
