The Centre of Excellence for Industrial Automation and Mechatronics is an initiative born out of the collaboration between the government of Uruguay (Ministerio de Industria, Energía y Minería) and UNIDO.
The centre offers training that aims to improve the job and career prospects of UTU (Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay) students as well as the productivity of local and regional industrial companies.
The FACT Centre in Montevideo has four labs: multimedia and simulation; electrical engineering, electronics and power transmission; fluid engineering, and a hybrid learning factory. The FACT Centre was established in 2015.

The FACT Centre in San Salvador is a joint project initiated by the ITCA and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) to establish a dual education programme. Festo Didactic not only designed the layout of the laboratories, but also assisted with project coordination.
The FACT Centre houses three laboratories. One is equipped with basic mechatronics technology, the other two with flexible manufacturing systems using process and factory automation. One for dual education, the other for industrial training.
The FACT Centre was built in three phases, in 2008, 2011 and 2012.

The FACT Centre at the Don Bosco University (UDB) in El Salvador is equipped with a computer-integrated manufacturing system (CIM) to effectively plan and design the entire manufacturing process for industrial companies.
The flexible manufacturing system (FMS) focuses primarily on production planning and organisation.
UDB’s goal is to teach the students technical knowledge and train them to become certified specialists in automation technology and industrial automation. In addition, the centre offers courses on flexible manufacturing in industrial automation for engineers and technicians across industry.
The FACT Centre at Don Bosco houses a laboratory with an iCIM system – industrial robotics and CAD/CAM/CNC.
The FACT Centre was established in 2010.

In 2015, the school received the go-ahead for the project, which was backed by the state of Baden-Württemberg and funded by regional businesses.
The learning labs were received enthusiastically by vocational and technical students, teachers and local industry. The school will be an important partner for many regional industrial companies in the future, offering specialised training to meet the requirements of different production processes.
The school purchased five learning labs: CNC milling and turning, hydraulics, mechatronics and Industry 4.0.

The Centre of Excellence was established in three phases: fundamentals of mechatronics in 2007 and flexible manufacturing in factory and process automation in 2008 and 2010.

The development bank "Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW)" in Frankfurt provided the Ministry of Industry in Naypyitaw with the funds to purchase the necessary equipment for the Sinde vocational training programme.
The aim of the programme is to equip students with the necessary technical skills and abilities to increase their job and career prospects, and, in the long run, to decrease poverty and unemployment, thus benefiting the local economy.
The Industrial Training Center houses many different labs – electronics, mechatronics, control technology, pneumatics, hydraulics and building automation, refrigeration technology, machining technology, mould and tool making, EDM, metrology, CAD/CAM/CNC, metalworking and welding technology.
The training centre was established in 2016/2017.

The Centre of Excellence in Abuja is equipped with the fundamentals of industrial drive technology and process and factory automation. It participates in the accreditation process of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), which aims to provide students with technical expertise in industrial drive, process and automation technology.

The reason for establishing the FACT Centre for Mechatronics was the lack of expertise among university graduates, who were unable to meet the application-orientated training requirements of local industry. A local company therefore took the decision to work with Festo to set up a FACT Centre with the aim of training its own staff and local industry professionals.
In the meantime, the FACT Centre, in cooperation with a local university, has opened a new branch that offers students demand-based education solutions.

Nile University has partnered with Festo to establish the FACT Centre Cairo as part of the TEMPUS project (‘Advanced engineering systems: bridging the gap between academia and industry’), which is able to reach out to industrial companies and to meet their technology and training needs.
Nile University’s laboratories were set up using Festo’s educational expertise, which enables it to meet the demands of Egyptian industry. The training content of the laboratories includes pneumatics, sensors, safety and control technology as well as the commissioning, troubleshooting and control of flexible manufacturing systems.
