Function
The CODESYS extension provides the CODESYS development environment with tools, libraries and editors for programming Festo programmable logic controllers in accordance with IEC 61131-3 in the Festo Automation Suite.
The CODESYS extension enables existing automation devices in a project to be programmed and connected field devices to be integrated into the control program.

From version 2.8 of the CODESYS extension the CODESYS versions installed on the computer can be used. The required CODESYS version can be selected when starting the program ⮫ Selecting the CODESYS version when starting the Festo Automation Suite.
In addition, from version 2.8 the extension does not install a special CODESYS version for the Festo Automation Suite. However, a version installed with previous versions of the CODESYS extension remains available on the PC.
Uninstalling the CODESYS extension also removes the integrated CODESYS version of previous versions of the extension from the system.

If several installed versions of the CODESYS development system are found on the computer, when it is started the Festo Automation Suite will prompt the user to select which CODESYS version is to be used in the current session ⮫ Selecting the CODESYS version when starting the Festo Automation Suite.

-
As a standalone program window with the default user interface of the CODESYS development system (new from version 2.8 of the extension).
The standalone program window can be opened from the topology editor for corresponding programmable logic controllers ⮫ Displaying CODESYS window.
