If more than one installed CODESYS version is found when starting Festo Automation Suite, a dialogue is displayed listing the available versions.

Versions that have not been tested with the Festo Automation Suite and not officially released are marked with a warning symbol. However, untested versions can be used at your own risk.

The ‘Don't show at startup’ option does not display the dialogue during future program starts and the last selected version is activated. The selection can be changed at any time in the backstage section ⮫ CODESYS options. If a newly installed CODESYS version is found, the dialogue will reappear regardless of the option.

Installing the required CODESYS packages

After selecting the CODESYS version, it checks whether all required CODESYS packages are installed.

The missing packages are installed with the ‘Ok’ button. This process may take some time, after which the Festo Automation Suite will restart.

The ‘Cancel’ button does not install packages. CODESYS will be available but the functions provided by the packages will not be available.

‘CODESYS Development System Not Found’ message

If a CODESYS installation is not found, a message is displayed.

The message contains a link from which installation files can be downloaded.

If CODESYS is not installed, the Festo Automation Suite can be used for tasks such as configuring devices, but PLC programming will not be available.

‘CODESYS Version’ message

If a Festo Automation Suite project that was created with an older CODESYS version than the currently selected version is opened, a corresponding message is displayed. The project can still be opened.

If a Festo Automation Suite project that was created with a newer CODESYS version than the currently selected version is opened, it cannot be edited and the opening process is aborted with a message.
