The device name displayed in the connection controller corresponds to the name assigned to the device in the topology editor. The name change is in effect in the Festo Automation Suite project and is taken into account when exporting the project data.
The device name can only be specified for the project and is not automatically copied by the device. The device retains its original name in the device list. The active name in the device can be changed via the corresponding function in the device list .
The device name can be overwritten in the following positions:

In the topology editor of the Festo Automation Suite.

In the ⮫ Connection control section.
The device name is saved in the Festo Automation Suite project, not in the device.
The device name cannot be changed if a connection between the device and a controller is configured in the topology editor and the plug-in of the controller is connected (online) at the same time. In this case, to change the device name, first disconnect the online connection of the plug-in to the controller. Only if there is no online connection can the device name be changed to the control program.
Prerequisite: the device is visible in the list of available devices.

In the topology editor right-click on the device to open the context menu and select ‘Change _Device Name’.

Change the device name and save by clicking on ‘Apply’.
The active name in the device is changed.
