The device configuration can be created and edited manually. Modules can be selected from the Module Catalog and added to the device configuration.
The title bar of the working section of a terminal contains the following symbols for editing a selected module:

This also enables existing modules in the device configuration to be replaced, moved or deleted.
A terminal is configured in the ‘Parameterization’ context on the ‘Terminal’ panel.
Adding module
Modules can only be added to the device configuration if there is no connection to the device.
Modules can be selected in the ‘Parameterization’ context from the device catalogue on the ‘Terminal’ panel and added to the device configuration.

This requires the ‘Module Catalog’ to be available in the right sidebar:

A terminal module must not be selected.
-
There is no connection to the device.

Select the module with one of the following options:
-
Enter the order code, part number or part of it in the search field.
-
Selection via the structure tree in the selection section of the module catalogue.
The selection section shows the found modules.

Select the module and add to the device configuration with one of the following options:
-
Click the ‘Add Module’ button.
-
Double-click the selected module.
-
Drag the selected module and drip it at a permitted location in the device configuration.
Permitted locations are marked with a blue line when the cursor moves over them. If the current drop position is not valid, the cursor changes to a "not allowed" symbol.
Incompatible modules are shown in grey.
The module is copied to the device configuration.

Modules that are added by clicking the ‘Add Module’ button or by double clicking are added in the device configuration on the right hand side.
If the right position is not permitted, the module is added to the left.
If neither the right nor the left position is permitted, a message is displayed.
The modules can then be moved if necessary ⮫ Move modules.
Modules that are added by drag and drop can be directly added at the desired location.
Only a limited number of modules can be added.
If too many modules are in the device configuration, an error message appears in the working section. The device configuration will be invalid until the number of modules is reduced again.
Adding module to a module
VABA pneumatic interfaces for VTSA pneumatics have an integrated slot for a CPX-AP-A module, which must be occupied.
Drag and drop a permitted module either from the device catalogue or one of the modules already in the terminal to the pneumatics interface. The module in use can be replaced or returned to the terminal by the same method.
When adding a terminal from the device scan, the CPX-AP-A module installed in the pneumatic interface is recognised and enabled, but is initially displayed to the left of the pneumatic interface in the topology editor. However, this does not play any role in the functionality of the plug-in. When the plug-in is opened for the first time, the position of the module will be automatically corrected and displayed correctly.
Changing module name
The name of the module of a terminal can be changed in the ‘Parameterization’ context in the table view of the device configuration of the terminal.

Double-click the name shown in the table view.
The right sidebar shows the ‘Overview’ view with further information on the selected module.
The input field for editing the name opens.

Edit the name.
The name is changed in the table view and in the left side pane ‘Navigation’ and is saved when the project is saved.
Replace module
Modules can only be replaced in the device configuration if there is no connection with the device.
In the ‘Parameterization’ context modules in the device configuration can be replaced by other modules from the module catalogue in the ‘Terminal’ panel.

Select the module with one of the following options:

Entry of order code or part number in the search field.
-
Selection via the structure tree in the selection section of the module catalogue.

Drag the module to the module that is to be replaced in the device configuration.
The module is replaced in the graphic view and the table view of the device configuration.
The border of the module to be replaced is highlighted in blue when the mouse is moved over it.
Selecting multiple modules
Multiple modules with the same order number in the ‘Parameterization’ context can be selected in the device configuration on the ‘Terminal’ panel.
Multiple modules in a row

Select the first module by clicking in the graphic view or the table view of the device configuration.
The module is outlined in blue in the graphic view and has a grey background in the table.

Press and hold the [Shift] key and select the last device.
Both modules and all modules in between are outlined in blue in the graphic representation, and highlighted in grey in the table.
Modules with a different order number in the series will not be selected.
All highlighted devices have now been selected and can be edited together.
Single modules

Select the first module by clicking in the graphic view or the table view of the device configuration.
The module is outlined in blue in the graphic view and has a grey background in the table.

Press and hold the [Ctrl] key and select the next device.
Both modules are outlined in blue in the graphic view and have a grey background in the table.

Perform step 2 for all devices until all required devices are highlighted.
All highlighted devices have now been selected and can be edited together.
Moving modules
Modules can only be moved in the device configuration if there is no connection with the device.
Modules can be moved within the device configuration in the ‘Parameterization’ context by selection of the ‘Terminal’ entry in the navigator.

Deleting modules
Modules can only be deleted from the device configuration if there is no connection with the device.
Modules can be deleted from the device configuration in the ‘Parameterization’ context in the ‘Terminal’ panel.
