The APDD files of AP devices are installed, updated or uninstalled in the ‘AP device’ view in the backstage section. This is possible even if the connection to the AP device is disconnected.
The APDD files from AP devices are installed in the ‘AP Services’ repository. The files in this repository can be installed, updated or uninstalled in the ‘Extensions’ view in the backstage section.
Installing AP device

Open the backstage section in the Festo Automation Suite.

Open the ‘Repositories’ function.

In the ‘Repositories’ view select the ‘AP device’ entry.

Enter the name of the device manufacturer or device in the search field.
If you are connected to the internet, the search will start automatically.

In the search results, navigate to the appropriate APDD file, select it and click ‘Install’. Alternatively, install all APDD files in the search results.
The selected APDD files and the corresponding devices will be installed.





APDD files can also be installed when adding devices from the device catalogue or the device scan. A device scan is only possible if there is an existing connection to the AP device. The latest APDD versions are offered. Missing APDD files can be installed when opening an AP device for devices that have already been added.
Update AP device

Open the ‘Repositories’ register in the backstage section.

In the ‘Repositories’ view select the ‘AP device’ entry.
The installed APDDs are displayed in the ‘AP devices’ list.

Use the ‘Search for Updates’ button to check for updates.

Select the appropriate APDD file from the search results and click ‘Update’.
The selected APDD files and the corresponding devices will be updated.
Uninstalling AP device

Open the backstage section in the Festo Automation Suite.

Open the ‘Repositories’ function.

In the ‘Repositories’ view select the ‘AP devices’ entry.
The installed APDDs are displayed in the ‘IO-Link APDDs’ list.

Select the APDD file you want to uninstall from the list.
Details about the APDD file are displayed to the right of the list.

Click ‘Uninstall’ for the details.
The selected APDD files and the corresponding devices will be uninstalled.
