The parameters and process data of the device can be recorded. The recordings enable the system response to be observed and errors to be identified.
To record, recording channels must be created. They are not saved on the device or in the project but are only available during the current Festo Automation Suite session.
Add recording channel

Open the ‘Diagnosis’ context.

Open the ‘Trace Configuration’ panel.

Click the ‘Add Trace Channel’ button.

Select the parameters for recording in the ‘New Trace Channel’ dialogue.

Enter the ID, the name or the description of the desired parameter in the search field and apply it from the search results.

Navigate to the desired parameter by the category. The ‘Parameter’ category contains all parameters, the ‘Process Data’ category only contains the process data of the device.

Select one or more parameters. Select multiple parameters at the same time by pressing and holding [Ctrl] or [Shift]. Parameters that already exist in recording channels will not be added again.

The duration of the recording can be configured with the ‘Trace Duration’ parameters in the ‘Record Settings’. The recording ends automatically after the specified time has elapsed.
Click the ‘Apply Trace Channel’ button.
The new recording channel is created. If multiple parameters have been selected, multiple recording channels will also be created.
Starting trace

Open the ‘Diagnosis’ context.

Open the ‘Trace Configuration’ panel.

Connect to the device if required .

Click the
‘Start Trace’ button in the toolbar to start the trace. If a trace has already been started or
a recording channel has not yet been added, the button is greyed out.The recording is started.
During recording the button changes to ‘Stop Trace’.
Stopping trace

In the ‘Diagnosis’ context open the ‘Trace Configuration’ panel.

Click the
‘Stop Trace’ button to stop the trace. If trace has not yet been started or the device is not
connected, the button is greyed out.The recording is finished and is automatically displayed on the ‘Trace Display’ panel.
Activating or deactivating recording channel
If individual recording channels are not to be deleted but also not to be recorded, they can be deactivated and reactivated as required:

In the ‘Diagnosis’ context, open the ‘Trace Configuration’ panel.

Deactivate or activate the checkbox at ‘Active’ with the recording channel.
Deactivated recording channels are not recorded, activated ones are recorded.
Editing recording channel

In the ‘Diagnosis’ context, open the ‘Trace Configuration’ panel.

Click the
to edit the recording channel. -
Edit the recording channel.

Click the ‘Change Trace Channel’ button.
The recording channel is changed.
Deleting recording channel

In the ‘Diagnosis’ context, open the ‘Trace Configuration’ panel.

Click
at the recording channel.The recording channel is deleted.
