The IP address of the device must be entered first to establish a connection. There are two options for this:

Search for the device in the network.

Enter the IP address manually.

The address of the target system can be set in any of the connected modules. However, because the connection is always established via the bus interface, it is recommended that the setting also be made in the bus interface. If it is set via one of the connected modules, the filtering must first be cancelled to enable the bus interface to be found in the network.
The additional network settings such as subnet mask and if necessary the gateway are configured in the device and the computer to enable a TCP/IP connection.

Click on the IP address displayed in the connection controller.
The dialogue window for configuring the connection properties opens.
A search for the available devices on the network is automatically run.

Disable filtering if needed.

Proceed according to one of the following options:

Enter the IP address of the device manually.

The device list can be sorted if required by clicking on the column header and selecting the desired device.
The IP address of the selected device is copied into the input field.

Click the ‘Apply’ button.
The dialogue for configuring the connection characteristics closes.

Click the ‘Connect’ button.
When a connection is established with a remote I/O system CPX-AP, the topology of the system is read and compared with the topology configured in the project.
If the topology of the system does not match the topology configured in the project, the connection is rejected and a corresponding message is displayed.
If the topology of the target system matches the configured topology, a dialogue appears that enables the connection to the device or system. ⮫ Synchronisation of device configuration and parameterisation..
