Robot arm with Fluidic Muscles
Airic’s_arm is inspired by nature. In a combination of mechatronics and the human biological model, it demonstrates new options for automated motion sequences in the future.
Based on the human arm
Like its natural model, the robot arm is equipped with bones and muscles. In this respect the 30 pneumatic muscles move the artificial bone structure. As in a human, this consists of an ulna and radius, metacarpal bones and phalanges as well as a shoulder ball joint and shoulder blade – joints that have so far not been seen in the technical world in this form.
Piezo proportional valves for the exact control of the pneumatic muscles
The muscles are a Festo product, which are now commonplace in the industry and go by the name Fluidic Muscle. With this technology and the Festo piezo proportional valves used, it is possible to exactly control the forces and rigidity in the construction. The interplay between mechatronics and software takes on the coordination of these actuators.
