Energy efficiency

Energy efficiency

The second of six fields of activity with regard to corporate responsibility

The sparing use of energy is one of the biggest tasks of our time. We thereby meet the challenges of climate change head on and, in doing so, help our customers to make their production fit for the future and to be economical and responsible with increasingly tighter resources. At Festo, developing innovative solutions for the more efficient use of energy has been a major concern to us for many years.

Our products: Future-oriented and energy-efficient

Our products and services open up new opportunities to our customers for sustainability in production and make them more competitive.

Festo Motion Terminal and E2M energy efficiency module

With the Festo Motion Terminal we are revolutionising pneumatic automation technology in the digital age. For the first time we have implemented pneumatic functions in the form of motion apps using software. This also includes new energy-saving functions, which produce particularly efficient motion sequences. We combine this with a remote diagnostics option for monitoring leakages. In addition, the energy-efficient piezoelectric pilot control helps to achieve a future-oriented energy concept. Compared to standard pneumatics, our customers therefore save up to 70 per cent energy.

Our new intelligent MSE6-E2M service unit only provides compressed air when it is really needed. Thereby our customers can save up to 20 per cent of the current energy demand of their machines. This improves their energy balance and helps to achieve important environmental targets. This improves their energy balance, supports the implementation of the ISO 50001 energy management standard and helps to achieve important environmental targets.

Energy Saving Services: reducing energy consumption in production

“Innovative partners like Festo help us to achieve our energy targets. With the Festo Energy Saving Services, in 2016 we were able to identify total potential savings of 633 tonnes of CO2.”

Bert Blom, Regional Sustainability Manager at Mars Chocolate Continental Europe and Eurasia

Using compressed air sparingly

We support our customers with a comprehensive range of services regarding the energy-efficient use of compressed air – from generating, preparing and distributing it through to its application in our pneumatic products and systems. To discover potential improvements, we carry out extensive compressed air audits and were the first company worldwide to be certified pursuant to the corresponding ISO 11011 standard. We use this expertise internally to optimise our own plants in terms of power engineering. We thereby make a contribution to the reduction of CO2 at our company and with our customers worldwide.
