Electronics have become an integral part of our digitally controlled world, offering unprecedented levels of convenience and efficiency in industry and elsewhere. Why not take advantage of the possibilities offered by electronics to optimise the teaching and learning process on this important subject? Improve your electronics training programs and laboratories with Electeo!
Electeo is a web-based blended learning solution developed specifically as a practical approach for teaching the fundamentals of electricity, analogue and digital electronics, and programmable and industrial electronics.
It teaches professional skills in analysing, designing, testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits and is ideal for vocational and technical colleges, universities and industrial training centres. Electeo has been designed to integrate seamlessly into the classroom and meet the changing needs of different students and training programmes.
The fundamentals of the learning process
Electeo courses offer ready-to-use learning materials to speed up lesson planning and course development. The courses are based on a solid educational approach that provides comprehensive coverage of a specific electronics topic. Its standardised structure offers a clear learning path and progression, with objectives that are aligned with professional requirements.
The courses focus on practical experiments and convey the necessary theory in a simple way, supported by multimedia tools (graphics, animations, videos, etc.). Questions and assessments are used throughout the process to check the student's understanding.
The range of courses on offer will be expanded over time. The following courses are available now:

The courses are available online on Festo LX, the digital learning portal for personalised learning experiences. The courses are also available as PDF workbooks.
The learning activities are designed to be carried out using the basic device with data collection and learning boards.
The range of courses will be expanded to include topics from disciplines such as motor electronics, digital electronics, power electronics and industrial electronics, e.g., transformers, network theorems, the fundamentals of three-phase current, transistors, thyristors, fixed power supplies, FETs and IGBTs, operational amplifiers and more.
Courses are available online on Festo LX, the digital learning portal for personalised learning experiences (subscription required, which must be purchased separately); courses are also available as a PDF workbook with campus licence.
The learning activities are designed to be carried out using the base unit with data collection and learning boards.
Practical experimentation
Students carry out the practical exercises described in a course using the corresponding learning boards. They use laboratory cables to connect different components and circuit blocks, and use the virtual instruments integrated in the basic unit to take electrical measurements.
The learning boards are labelled with IEC symbols to clearly identify the components. The base unit controls the learning board and suppliers them with power, if required; the learning boards are attached to the base unit using magnets. The electronic components are safely housed under the surface of the Learning Boards.
The collection of Learning Boards will be expanded over time. The following Learning Boards are currently available:
A self-contained workspace
The Electeo base unit is equipped with all the important instruments that are needed for circuit analysis. Students use these instruments to measure various electrical parameters, such as voltage, current, resistance, frequency and phase, and can therefore check and validate electronic circuits, systems or devices. No external equipment is needed!
Virtual instruments are an essential component of computerised data acquisition. Virtual instruments include:
Virtual instruments are just as accurate as real instruments. They can be controlled via a web application or directly in Festo LX. The interface is responsive and adapts to different screen sizes.
To make things easier, LEDs provide the user with immediate feedback on the status of the base unit and the instruments. The base unit is large enough to allow the user to work comfortably. The base unit is lightweight and powered by an external power supply cable that can be plugged into a standard plug socket.
Electeo shows its full potential when used in combination with the digital learning portal Festo LX (subscription required) as a complete online solution. Festo LX enables teachers to create, plan, customise and assign courses, as well as track and report on how students are progressing. Virtual instruments are directly accessible through the Festo LX user interface and make it possible to carry out efficient practical exercises. The online simulation software FluidSIM 365 (subscription required) allows the simulation of electronic circuits.
Safety is of the utmost importance when handling electricity. Electeo works with low voltage and is protected against short circuits and, therefore, there is no risk of electric shock. Electeo and the nominal values of the components are designed to ensure that no high and potentially dangerous voltages are generated. Electeo complies with the most important electrical safety standards.
Every minute spent experimenting should be dedicated to learning and not wasted on troubleshooting or configuring devices. Electeo is controlled by a unique electronic core that ensures trouble-free operation and compatibility with a wide range of terminal devices, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones. The open technology of Electeo makes it easy to implement future extensions. In addition, advanced users can develop their own applications with the help of software tools, such as LabVIEW, MATLAB and C#.
