Position transmitter and proximity switch in one device: the SDAS-MHS for T-slot

The SDAS-MHS is used for contactless feedback of the piston position of drives with magnetic proximity sensing.
It combines two functions into a single device:

In the position transmitter operating mode the device continuously tracks the motion of the piston and transmits the information via IO-Link. It is the same size as a proximity switch and enables continuous position feedback, particularly for small drives such as compact cylinders and grippers.

In the proximity switch operating mode 2 switching points can be programmed. As no space is needed for a second proximity switch, the application becomes much more compact, especially with small cylinders and grippers. The switching points are securely set electronically and the sensor doesn't need to be manually adjusted by an operator.

Setting up the sensor with the teach-in button is much faster compared to manually adjusting two conventional proximity switches. The option for programming PNP/NPN directly on the device reduces the part numbers and versions that need to be stocked.

Operating mode: proximity switch

  • Mainly used for small drives such as compact cylinders and grippers with T-slot
  • Two switching points can be set in the detection range of the SDAS-MHS by teach-in.
  • No need to install two proximity switches

Operating mode: position transmitter

  • Mainly used for small drives such as compact cylinders and grippers with T-slot
  • Customers receive continuous position feedback of the piston movement within the detection range
  • General areas of application are process monitoring and object detection
