For the new strategic period, we have taken a systematic approach to developing our sustainability strategy in line with international standards. The starting point was the dual materiality analysis in accordance with the CSRD, which takes into account both financial materiality and impact materiality.
The analysis has shown that the following five ESRS standards are essential for Festo:
Based on these findings, we have identified five strategic ESG areas that form the basis of our new sustainability strategy. By the end of 2025 , specific targets were adopted for each of these strategic areas. The company-wide implementation will begin in 2026 – globally, consistently and with clear responsibilities.
In order to achieve the targets for Scope 1 and 2, we are implementing a global infrastructure plan and pursuing a global green electricity strategy. We are also continuing to invest in energy efficiency measures and are expanding our photovoltaic (PV) systems.
To reduce GHG emissions along the value chain (Scope 3), we are focusing on the shortest possible supply chains through increasing regionalisation and the 'local for local' concept. When it comes to our products, we take sustainability into account right from the start of the product development process. That enables us to optimise the CO₂ footprint in production and the energy consumption during operation.
In our Compact Sustainability Report 2025, we document our global responsibility using examples from 2025.
