UKCA mark and importer status

Following the UK departure from Europe, Festo is pleased to assure you we have been working intensively to ensure all product certification and compliance requirements will be in place following Brexit.

UKCA marking came into effect on the 1st January 2021; however, it is legal to continue using the CE mark whilst the assessment process, label changes and run-out of existing stocks is made, up until the revised deadline (as of 24th Aug 2021) of the 1st January 2023.

See UK Gov website

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark will be applied to all products previously requiring a CE mark. The mark shows the product conforms to all relevant UK legislation (UK designated standards) and is backed by a UK Declaration of Conformity (DoC) and technical file. In most cases, the UKCA mark will be applied directly to the product/label or, if space doesn’t allow, on the accompanying product packaging or instructions.Where a third-party conformity assessment is required, this will be conducted by a UK-recognised assessment body (UKMCAB).

The other significant change will be the change of status for Festo Ltd from Manufacturer within the EU to the UK Importer of Festo goods from the EU. It demonstrates that Festo UK assumes legal responsibility as the Importer. It ensures the correct conformity assessment procedures have been carried out, the goods have the correct conformity markings, technical documentation, and the labelling requirements are compliant.

Our core engineering and business units are well prepared and are working intensively on this topic. We can confidently assure you that the full Festo range will be compliant well inside the laid-down deadline and will be available to all of our valued customers across the UK market. We will keep our customers informed during this period and will be happy to answer any further questions.
