FluidSIM for your simulation application

Simulation software for creating and simulating circuit diagrams in pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical engineering

Being able to learn skills in a safe environment is especially important in technical basic and further training. With simulations, complex processes and interrelationships can be communicated in a safe and accessible way. FluidSIM has been the world's leading simulation software for creating and simulating circuit diagrams in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical engineering for more than 25 years. It allows users to acquire valuable technical skills that can be used to prevent errors and ensure an increase in efficiency and quality.

FluidSIM for your simulations

For more than 25 years, FluidSIM has been the world's leading simulation software for creating and simulating circuit diagrams in pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical engineering. FluidSIM allows valuable technical skills to be acquired by designing circuits, bringing them to life through simulation and optimising them through interaction. The simulation of controllers and processes has long been an industrial standard that ensures errors are prevented, and efficiency and quality are increased.

FluidSIM has already received several awards, including the Expert System Innovation Award, the Worlddidac Award, and the German Educational Software Prize. With more than 300,000 installations worldwide, FluidSIM is one of the most successful software packages in mechatronics training.

Training objectives of FluidSIM

FluidSIM provides a practical way for students to develop their skills in automation technology and to master complex tasks. The learning objectives of FluidSIM include:

  • Creating circuit diagrams
  • Identifying and preventing errors
  • Optimising circuit diagram solutions through interactive simulations
  • Understanding how the solution is developed
  • Observing effects with real-time simulations

User versions of FluidSIM

FluidSIM can be accessed in different ways. Depending on the licence, users can choose between the Windows version and the web version, or they can opt to integrate FluidSIM into our digital learning portal Festo LX.

The right FluidSIM licence for your application

There are different licensing models for using FluidSIM. Depending on which technology will be the focus of the training in FluidSIM, a distinction is made between FluidSIM Pneumatics, FluidSIM Hydraulics, and FluidSIM Electrical Engineering. There is also the option of combining all three technologies.

FluidSIM 365 gives you time-limited access (1, 3 or 5 years) to the technology you have selected and you can access it via the web and Windows versions as well as via our Festo LX digital learning portal.

Functionalities and contents of FluidSIM

FluidSIM offers tutors and students numerous functionalities and contents that make working and learning with FluidSIM easier and more specific.

Access to extensive component libraries

FluidSIM also has component libraries for pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical engineering that can either be used together or separately. The component libraries include hundreds of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrotechnical, electric and digital components, and are constantly being expanded and revised.

Real and virtual measuring devices

FluidSIM offers both real and virtual measuring devices that can be integrated in the circuits. Before the simulation, real measuring devices are installed, while virtual measuring devices are used during or before the simulation to display the simulated values of the circuit. Virtual measuring devices, in contrast to real measuring devices, do not influence the circuits. That means they show the real values of the circuit simulated by FluidSIM. Virtual measuring devices can be used in electrical as well as pneumatic and hydraulic circuits.

Learning through error models in FluidSIM

FluidSIM has an innovative diagnostic concept, which enables the readily available error models for various components to be compiled. Before a simulation, a specific error configuration can be selected; this then has an impact on the subsequent simulation. During this process, defective components can be identified with the help of virtual measuring devices and then repaired virtually.

Lesson preparation and learning materials in FluidSIM

With the expert mode of FluidSIM, profiles can be created and lessons can be organised and then assigned to students. The profiles enable the functions, components and error models, for example, to be narrowed down so that students only deal with the functions and tasks that are relevant to them. Multimedia training content is also available on FluidSIM so that variety and interest can be added to the lessons.

Interfaces to practical applications

With FluidSIM, students can put the knowledge they have learned into practice straight away. Signals are transferred either via the connected hardware or via interfaces from other programs. All parameters are identical to those of the training packages from Festo Didactic and can also be fully adapted to the key features of other components. The EasyPort hardware enables FluidSIM to be used both as a controller for real systems and as a replacement for them. The industry standard OPC-UA is also supported, bringing FluidSIM even closer to industrial applications.
