Combining tangible goods and intangible services into hybrid service bundles leads to new forms of value creation, with the product becoming the physical medium for a wide range of services. This means that tailored solutions can be provided for individual customer requirements, customer satisfaction and loyalty can be increased, and new lines of business can be opened up for companies.
This process mostly takes place in company networks and is aided by intelligent technologies and networking opportunities. However, it presents great challenges for the companies. New hybrid business models and collaboration in complex networks will have an impact on existing workflows and will trigger change processes.
Given the funding focus on work in hybrid value-creation systems, the ABILITY research project will be developing transferable tools and models for human design and organisation of work in these new value-creation systems. This includes, for example, ensuring that employees are able to work in digitally connected company networks and in altered relationships between the company and the customer.
