Each application requires different mechanical motion, either linear or rotary. The modular mechanical system from Festo is extremely diverse and offers all the common mechanical motion systems with interfaces that match one another as well as the workpiece and the motor. Discover our highlights for the best mechanical connectivity, which are not only impressive because of the ease with which everything can be optimally combined but also because they are attractively priced!
When it comes to extremely compact dimensions in test and inspection systems, small parts handling, the electronics industry and desktop applications, the axis series ELGC and mini slide EGSC are a great solution.
The spindle and toothed belt axes ELGC offer an outstanding internal guide and are designed to have virtually no gaps so they are protected from external influences and yet are still extremely durable and robust.
The mini slide EGSC with built-in linear guide for high guide precision and force absorption makes it the first choice for vertical motions in extremely tight spaces or for guided single linear motions.
A handling system based on the combination of ELGC and EGSC offers another key benefit for your machines and systems. The optimum ratio of installation to working space, the unique "one-size-down" assembly system and the simple mounting and fastening technology ensure an optimum and efficient use of space and a streamlined system layout.
Cantilever systems with the spindle axis ELGT stand out thanks to the advantages they offer for the electronics industry, desktop applications and battery production. But the ELGT can also be used in test and inspection systems, in small parts handling and in assembly systems.
Wherever your production process requires its special features, where the conveying path should not be obstructed or where the machine layout is determined by maximum compactness, you can't go wrong with this very compact and cost-effective ELGT. Systems with ELGT can be perfectly combined to create 2D and 3D cantilever systems and can also be directly combined with linear axes ELGC or the mini slide EGSC.
The extensive range stands out thanks to its maximum rigidity and capacity to absorb high loads and torques, especially in the heavy-duty versions EGC-HD. Not only that, but the axes also offer high maximum speed and impressive dynamic response, even with long strokes up to 8.5 m.

Maximum connectivity of the hardware and software, the best possible efficiency and easy operation with servo motors and servo drives from Festo. They form the perfect link between your mechanical systems and control technology and are quick and easy to commission as a complete drive system with the Festo Automation Suite. Put together a combination of electric products that completely meets the requirements of your application, irrespective of your electromechanical system and control environment – perfectly integrated with electric connectivity from Festo.
The fast and easy drive adventure
Even a small automation task, such as simply moving a workpiece from A to B, can become an endless undertaking. Just looking for the right-sized components can turn into a complex project, while commissioning can take even longer.
Find out in this video how it can be done faster and, above all, easier (2:14 min.).
The CMMT-AS is one of the most compact servo drives in the area of low-voltage controllers. The price- and size-optimised servo drive offers extremely dynamic and precise point-to-point and interpolating motions. The low-voltage drive CMMT-ST is a simple and extremely cost-effective solution for positioning tasks and motion solutions with low power requirements.
Both servo drives can be seamlessly integrated into Ethernet-based system environments and controller-specific function blocks are available to download. A major plus point offered by the CMMT series is simple and error-free commissioning in just a few minutes and in just a few steps with the Festo Automation Suite.
The AC synchronous servo motor EMMT-AS is suitable for the CMMT-AS, is very easy to control and has great path accuracy, making it an outstanding choice for positioning tasks for all kinds of demanding and dynamic applications. Connecting the EMMT-AS to the CMMT-AS with the one-cable solution (OCP) reduces installation effort in your machine and saves space.
Compact and cost-effective, easy to install and convenient to connect
The servo drives CMMT-AS (low-voltage servo drive) and CMMT-ST (extra-low-voltage servo drive) make the perfect combination thanks to their common platform concept, enabling every individual motion of the application to be optimally designed and operated. The CMMT-ST covers the power spectrum from below 50 W up to 300 W and the CMMT-AS enables outputs of between 350 W and 6.5 kW, with 12 kW planned for the future. This also optimises the space required in the machine and especially in the control cabinet. The same fieldbus interfaces and the seamless, consistent integration into an Ethernet-based system environment offer simple and convenient project planning and operation of the entire servo drive family.
Installation and control concepts influence each other. This means that architectures must be cleverly networked to achieve seamless connectivity. Whether you’re looking for a stand-alone control concept with motion control and remote I/O for greater modularity and flexibility in the system layout, perfectly connected I/O systems and control solutions with other control concepts or an optimal, seamless integration into your system environment with Ethernet-based protocols: anything is possible. We call this intelligent connectivity.
Connectivity in real time
If you are faced with the challenges of having limited installation space, a shrinking number of control cabinets, of having to achieve high network capacity and good energy efficiency, then you’re probably asking yourself: what about decentralised automation?
In this video (2:38 mins), we’ll show you how you can tackle these challenges with our CPX-AP-I.
Starting from the bus interface, one or two lines can be set up using the daisy chain principle. Star and tree topology will also be possible in the future.
Connection to the higher-level controller via Ethernet-based bus protocols as well as EtherCAT and PROFIBUS.
AP system communication:
AP communication technology combines a host PLC with IO-Link devices, digital and analogue inputs and outputs, and data transfer to the cloud in one easy package.
Several IO-Link masters with up to four IO-Link devices can be connected to one bus interface, which theoretically allows up to 316 IO-Link devices per bus interface within existing system limits.
CPX-AP-I offers you an efficient, open and expandable remote I/O system. You can integrate powerful I/O modules, existing valve terminals and many IO-Link devices and electric drives straight into the major host systems. And based on the innovative AP system communication, the remote I/O system offers seamless communication from the workpiece to the cloud. The remote I/O system CPX-AP-I is designed for use in applications with limited space such as assembly machines or modular machines and system designs, in handling and tool changing systems, and in moving applications where low weight and compact installation space are important. Or in fast manufacturing processes with real-time communication. And much more.
Our ready-to-install systems provide you with a fast and reliable complete solution for your application that is fully assembled, tested and perfectly matched – electric, pneumatic or a mix. It includes an energy chain for cables and tubing, connection technology and matching servo drive package.
The modular and scalable systems
include extremely compact and cost-effective solutions on the one hand or offer an impressively high level of mechanical rigidity and sturdy design on the other, whether for light or heavy payloads or large workpieces and very long strokes.
