Festo opens its full-scale Training Centre in Jinan to provide well-trained talents to sustain the business growth and operation expansion. As the world market leader for industrial education solutions Festo Didactic conceptualized the Training Centre and provided for the technical equipment.

 

The Festo Training Centre Jinan, located on the compound of the Festo manufacturing base in Jinan, China, opens today. It is the first full-scale training centre Festo has established outside of Germany. As one of the important activities to practise Festo Corporate Education Responsibility, the goal set for the training centre is to introduce the successful German dual education system into China, as well as to sustain the company in its production for a rapidly developing market in Asia.

 

Festo invested approximately 1 million euro in the establishment of the training centre which occupies an area of 1,300 sqm. This includes a fully equipped fitter room, traditional mechanical and CNC workshop, a control technique room - consisting of pneumatic, hydraulic and electric control techniques - as well as a mechatronics system training room furnished with Festo Didactic equipment, together with computer skill, SAP and metrology training rooms.

 

The aim of the Training Centre is to offer vocational training for apprentices, further qualification for Festo employees, and qualification for specific target groups, e. g. team leaders and trainers, in the fields of management, quality and technology.

 

The training centre with its practical education concept collaborated with the AHK (Auslandshandelskammer), the German Chamber of Commerce Abroad, and the Jinan Vocational Training College, as well as the partner companies Hydrometer GmbH, SKF Friedrichshafen AG and Stihl AG & Co. KG has developed the practical and theoretical training program for the students. Introducing the combination of both, the dual education system, which is widely recognized as the success module of vocational training in Germany is the highlight of the program.

 

In total 50 apprentices enrolled in the Sino-German class in Jinan Vocational Training College in September 2011 to start a 3-year course in the field of industrial mechanics. After the first year focusing on theoretical study, the apprentices will spend half of the time of the second year in their companies, in case of Festo 28 and 2 from a partner company  in the Festo Training Centre to practice their profession. The third year of the vocational training course will be dedicated to on-job trainings at workshops. After graduation, apprentices can expect to take on highly qualified jobs at Festo or the partner companies.
