Application Report: Wero Swiss, Wernli AG
Application Report: Wero Swiss, Wernli AG How the fluidic muscle optimises textile machines

How can a company in a high-wage country like Switzerland still manufacture

textiles profitably? Wernli AG, also known under the label Wero Swiss, shows how it is done – with clever solutions for bandages and dressing materials. An equally clever solution from Festo helps out: the fluidic muscle DMSP.

Application Report: Festo Know-how in the textile industry
Application Report: Festo Know-how in the textile industry Reliable suppliers ensure reliable textile machinery

The pronounced growth in world population is also driving the demand for textiles. However, despite rising sales, the trend is towards ever-lower textile prices. This means that the textile industry is forced to produce at lower cost, and OEMs are being asked to develop ever-faster and ever-more-productive machines and plant. Thanks to Festo’s robust pneumatic automation technology, textile machine builders have a supplier they can rely on – with products available world-wide and dependable service.

White Paper: Piston spool valves and poppet valves
White Paper: Piston spool valves and poppet valves A technical comparison of available solenoid valves

Why should you choose your valves carefully?

The increasing demands placed on valve technology in recent years have led to a formidable extension of the range of available technologies and valve types, models, and properties. The most commonly used are poppet valves and piston spool valves. Nowadays, there is hence a much wider choice of customised valve technology to successfully plan a project. However, choosing the right parts for the application at hand requires comprehensive knowledge and an accurate appraisal by the consulting engineer or technician. This White Paper is intended to offer you a brief overview.

This white paper contains information on:

  • An introduction to valve technologies
  • Poppet valves, piston spool valves and the cartridge principle – what you need to know
  • Which valve type suits you best? A valve selection aid
Double pilot valves in safety-relevant applications
Double pilot valves in safety-relevant applications Technical report II/2012

Abstract:

Pneumatic double pilot valves from Festo can be used as components in element-based safety functions, insofar as the component is used in accordance with the instructions in the product-specific user information.

Double pilot valves reliably provide two stable switching positions or current paths. The (stored) switching position is retained, even if actuating force fails. Double pilot valves from Festo are therefore considered effective for this function. Double pilot valves are an elegant solution for numerous tasks, and in some cases they are the only solution for implementing an element-based safety function.
