This training package provides hands-on experience with motor starters, soft starters, and their advanced features. It also address important phenomena associated with motor starting. The training package includes the necessary equipment to perform the hands-on learning activities of the “Three-Phase Induction Motors Starters” course, available on Festo LX (subscription required) or as a campus license (sold separately). Learners connect modules following step-by-step instructions to study topics such as DOL starters and soft starters, advanced features of soft starters such as kick start, soft stop, etc. DC bus, and more. The four-quadrant power supply and dynamometer controller emulates a flywheel connected to the fourpole squirrel-cage induction motor. The thyristors are managed by the Data Acquisition and Control Interface (DACI), which controls the power delivered to the induction motor. The DACI allows the user to monitor and manipulate parameters, as well as observe the motor’s starting current, torque, and speed.
