The way the pneumatic, electric and electronic components of your system are housed deserves attention. Because every industry, every location and every application places its own demands on control cabinets in terms of design, resistance, degree of protection, hygiene and safety. That's why the solutions created by Festo are exactly right for you since they are tailored to your application, including design and sizing, and are also function-tested and ready for installation. With a customised solution from Festo, you can be sure that your control cabinets and mounting plates are perfectly tailored to your needs and requirements. This means your system will be quick to install, tidy and easy to maintain. And you save yourself time and effort.
Our service ranges from finding out the requirements to complete installation. When delivered, the control cabinets and mounting plates have been function-tested and are ready for installation. Customised automation solutions are individually designed, engineered and built precisely according to your application and are suitable for your specific site conditions and industry requirements. We have a wealth of experience with such projects. And that allows you to focus on your core business.
With a ready-to-install system, you can start production operations more quickly and, above all, more reliably and thoroughly. This is because all pneumatic, electric and electronic components can be effortlessly integrated in our high quality control cabinets and mounting plates. Depending on the version, they are optimally protected in the stainless steel control cabinet housing. If required, we also install products from third-party suppliers.
Control cabinet solutions with CPX-E and VTUG
These compact control cabinets provide the optimum connection between pneumatically actuated angle seat valves and the limit switches, measuring devices and controller or process control level. The clever combination of automation system CPX-E with remote I/O and valve terminal VTUG with hot-swap function is compact, powerful and easy to install. Modules CPX-E meet the requirements of NE21 – ideal for applications in the process industry.
ATEX control cabinet for potentially explosive atmospheres
An ATEX control cabinet has special features so it can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres. The ATEX enclosure is designed to provide a safe environment for electrical devices and circuits. Modular terminal CPX with remote I/O ensures flexibility. The cabinet fulfils Directive 2014/34/EU (94/9/EC) and is approved for Ex zone 2/22. Variants for Ex zone 1/21 on request. Regional standards such as UL or CCC can also be taken into account.
Ready-to-install and ready-to-connect mounting plates
We pre-assemble pneumatic and electric components safely and accurately on customised mounting plates. They are used as a supporting element for the individual components and are integrated directly into the system concept. Mounting plates are available in different materials, e.g. sheet steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc. Our mounting plates are tested, include all the tubing and can be installed directly in the machine. Mounting components are already attached to or integrated into the plate.
If you need a special control cabinet, then we will provide it. Any variation, in aluminium or stainless steel, air-conditioned, as a wall-mounted enclosure or with its own bus technology. Customised control cabinets and mounting plates are specifically tailored to your particular needs and requirements in automation: cross-technology, completely function-tested, ready to install. Just tell us what you need.

How can pharmaceutical production be made more efficient? Experts from Festo and B. Braun Melsungen AG scrutinised the entire value chain of the previous production processes. There was no doubt that standardised automation offered considerable potential for improvement. We adapted our system recommendations to the customer’s requirements. This also included the design of a universal control cabinet standard.
"Especially given the tight deadlines in system building, ready-to-install solutions are ideal," reports Christina Molina, Project Manager at B. Braun. But with control cabinets, much more than just selling is required. We received comprehensive advice, from 3D models to fine-tuning of the designs."
French company Thimonnier is the global market leader in packaging technology and a beacon of hope for the government's Industry 4.0 initiative "Industrie du futur." The machine manufacturer is taking a decisive step towards Industry 4.0 with state-of-the-art connection technology from Festo.
All the pneumatic functions of the SF102 are controlled by valve terminal VTUG. It is compact, has a high flow rate and has IO-Link® on board. The uncomplicated wiring of the sensor-actuator combinations with standardised, unscreened cables using IO-Link® reduces material costs, simplifies logistics and saves time. This is how this connection technology makes installation much easier. Sylvie Guinard, Company Director and CEO of Thimonnier, is delighted: "With the support of our automation partners such as Festo, we are always at the cutting edge of mechatronics and Industry 4.0."

The modular valve terminals MPA with multi-pin control the drives. These valve terminals as well as the service units from the MS6 series are securely protected in ready-to-install control cabinets supplied by Festo.
"As we have seen in many of our projects, pneumatic components from Festo are characterised by a high level of sturdiness and reliability," says Frank Waermer, Managing Director and consulting engineer at Detmold-based engineering firm Danjes. “Pneumatics is always our first choice over electric solutions for our water and wastewater projects, because pneumatic components are much less expensive and much more compact than electric ones. On top of that, they have built-in explosion protection and can be operated for a certain amount of time using their compressed air reservoir even in the event of power failures.”
