MPS 400: compact all-round I4.0 training factories

Compact all-round training factories for skills-oriented training in mechatronics, automation technology and Industry 4.0

Changing competencies

New technologies are changing industrial practice and thus the skills profiles for a wide range of roles, such as that of the mechatronics specialist. This results in a need to integrate future-oriented topics such as IT security, energy efficiency and machine learning into technical training without neglecting the basic skills involved in mechatronics and automation technology.

We developed the new MPS 400 series to help communicate not just the theoretical but also the practical aspects of this key training content and do so in a compact and cost-efficient way.

The Curriculum Industry 4.0

A true all-round training system

The MPS 400 series is not just designed to offer training in basic skills in mechatronics and automation technology, but also to convey in-depth knowledge of Industry 4.0. The latest miniaturised production line from the MPS series offers an in-depth look into intelligent networking of machines in the production environment and into their work processes.

Individual configurations

MPS 400 makes the configuration of individual training factories particularly easy, as the series consists of individual system modules. Each one includes all the elements necessary for seamless integration into a modular training factory made up of multiple system modules. Each system module represents an individual process step with specific training content based on actual production. Thanks to the individual options for combinations, MPS 400 provides an optimum solution for training plans and requirements for a wide range of vocational professions and positions.

A strong software landscape

FactoryViews is our new central software portal that gives students, researchers and teaching staff access to all software modules for our training and research factories in industrial automation. The software ecosystem is perfectly tailored to the needs of learning and teaching and covers the software side of subjects including production, mechatronics, automation and Industry 4.0. It is a hub and support for easy access to MES4, an educational workshop and many more applications that can be individually integrated and configured.

Learning support

Augmented-reality-assisted training concepts and a clear educational design for all content with full training documentation make the MPS 400 series the training system of choice for future-oriented yet cost-conscious training institutions.

The perfect training system for students, teachers and pioneers

The benefits to you:

  • Students carry out all their training using one single training system
  • The training process is made more efficient by media features such as augmented reality and QR codes
  • The modular hardware enables an equally modular learning approach, making it easier to identify and quickly achieve progress
  • Adjustable trolley heights for ergonomic working that minimises fatigue
  • Components and technologies that have been tried and tested in industry ensure that students are well-prepared for requirements in industry, helping them to quickly find their feet at work
  • Teaching staff can count on the high quality components of the system and thus its reliable operation for years to come
  • Th option to extend the training system and its space-saving design help create a cost-efficient overall solution
  • The latest technology and training topics guarantee future-oriented education for lasting professional success

A wide range of topics

The MPS 400 series covers a wide range of different future-oriented course topics and fields of technology, such as:

  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Online shop
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • IIOT retrofitting
  • Industrial networking with PROFINET
  • Radio frequency identification (RFID)
  • Human-machine interface (HMI)
  • PLC programming
  • Industrial communication with OPC UA
  • Smart sensors with IO-Link

Modular expansions for greater flexibility in choosing subjects

There are suitable additional packages for the MPS 400, consisting of hardware and software components with appropriate training documentation, to develop other topics, such as mobile robotics, machine safety, energy efficiency and IT security, and integrate them into lessons using a modular approach.

  • Mobile robotics
The Robotino 4 system module makes integrating mobile robotics into lessons easy with MPS 400 systems, giving students the opportunity to understand and take advantage of material flows in production.
  • Machine safety
The additional machine safety package can be used to illustrate common safety devices for modern machinery and learn using practical examples. This allows doors with safety relays and light curtains to be integrated into systems.
  • Energy monitoring
Energy monitoring is a training topic that can be taught using the energy measurement unit with industry sensors for measuring power and compressed air consumption. This helps students to understand energy requirements in production and how to optimise them.
  • IT security
Cyber threats constitute expensive risks for industry and are constantly on the rise. The additional IT security package allows students to develop the relevant IT security skills that can be applied in the production environment. For instance, it teaches the basics of VLANs, VPNs and remote access and applies them practically in the training factory.
