High throughput pipetting solution

Product Application Scenarios:

Large laboratories, customs, blood stations, infectious disease testing centers, and especially in the field of molecular diagnostic sample preprocessing, where high-throughput fully automated nucleic acid extractors are required to process a large number of samples in a short period of time, making high-throughput automated liquid handling workstations the preferred solution.

High-Throughput Intelligent Pipetting System:

This system consists of modules such as sample loading, sample information recognition, automatic lid opening, automatic pipetting, and automatic lid closing, enabling full automation throughout the process. Testing personnel have "zero contact" with samples, effectively reducing preprocessing workload and avoiding human operational errors. The Festo High-Throughput Intelligent Pipetting System significantly enhances sample processing speed.

Festo Solutions:

Two sets of three-axis cantilever systems are constructed using Festo standard electric axes, customized variable pitch modules, and compact Z-axis modules (17mm wide). Equipped with Festo pipettes DHOE and rotating gripping modules EHMD, the entire sample preprocessing function is realized.

Right-Side Three-Axis Cantilever System:

A perfect combination of Festo standard electric axes ELGD/ELGC/EGSC with servo motors/stepper motors achieves high-speed and precise positioning for sample lid opening and closing. Four compact rotating clamping modules EHMD are installed at the end of the Z-axis, enabling simultaneous lid opening and closing for four sample tubes.

Left-Side Three-Axis Cantilever System:

Through the combination of Festo standard electric cylinders ELGD, customized variable pitch modules, four compact Z-axes, and servo motors/stepper motors, rapid aspiration and dispensing of pipettes are achieved. Four pipettes DHOE are installed on the customized variable pitch module and compact Z-axes, allowing the four pipettes to move up and down independently or simultaneously at equal or variable distances for aspiration and dispensing functions.

This solution exemplifies Festo's joint application of its "golden partners" in gas control, liquid handling, and electric drives.

Bioreactor

Product Application Scenarios:

Bioreactors provide an appropriate growth environment for microorganisms or enzymes to simulate the in vivo environment for biochemical reactions in vitro, enabling rapid proliferation of microorganisms or cells and efficient formation of products. They are suitable for important biological processes such as the production of products using synthetic biology techniques, genetically engineered recombinant proteins, DNA vaccines, 3D tissue cell culture, and the expansion of microbial cell factories.

Festo Solutions:

The control parameters of bioreactors involve liquid and gas phase supply, including stirring speed, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, fluid dynamics, etc. Festo's bioreactor solution not only provides precise gas control but also offers a high-performance stirring servo system and remote IO function modules to ensure optimal operation of the bioreactor.

Festo's VEMD mass flow controllers and 18-bit VEAE switching valves complement each other to achieve precise regulation and on/off control of air, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. The VEMD supports multiple gas media such as air, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen, and features a rich array of analog and digital interfaces, including analog input ranges of 0…5V/0…10V/4…20mA and digital communication interfaces such as Modbus TCP and RS232/RS485. The VEAE valve manifold integrates 18 piezo valves in a compact structure, optimizing the ventilation circuit for low leakage, low power consumption, long lifespan, and oxygen compatibility.

The stirring speed control in bioreactors directly affects the fluid dynamics and cell growth within the reactor. A lower stirring speed may lead to cell settlement, affecting the transfer of oxygen and nutrients. Conversely, a higher stirring speed may expose cells to excessive shear forces, causing damage. The perfect combination of Festo's high-performance EMMT servo motor and multi-protocol CMMT servo controller achieves precise force, speed, and position control via PN, EC, EP, or Modbus TCP buses. With high dynamics and extremely low cogging torque, this combination ensures high adjustability, excellent synchronization, and tracking accuracy.
