Transport system: Multi-Carrier-System with parallel kinematic system

Transport system MCS®

The new and innovative Multi-Carrier System MCS® makes your production lines extremely flexible. It is easy to integrate into existing intralogistics and makes extremely modular transport solutions for cost-effective production possible – from a batch size of 1 to mass production.

React quickly to changing market demands for new, custom-manufactured products, keep production efficient, optimise machine utilisation and reduce delivery times while maintaining maximum flexibility. All this is only possible if you can modify your production processes quickly and without much effort. And the Multi-Carrier System MCS® from Festo allows you to do just that. This innovative transport system can be quickly and easily adapted to different formats, sizes and product types during operation. This optimises machine utilisation because changeovers are extremely fast with this transport solution.

Sophisticated engineering tools and modular hardware, together with our customised consulting and comprehensive expertise, provide a high degree of flexibility and at the same time simplicity for innovative and highly economical solutions throughout the engineering process.

Flexibility in the packaging industry

In this video you’ll see mass production from batch sizes of 1, maximum flexibility in production with very short set-up times and savings of 50% on engineering times

Greater freedom thanks to flexible transport

Modern production processes often make it necessary to eliminate the rigid chain of conventional transfer systems. Our Multi-Carrier System can make your production processes more flexible. It provides the necessary freedom within the machine, while giving you a competitive edge in the market.

This is because MCS® breaks up the rigid chain of conventional transport routes. It has a modular design and is freely scalable, so it can be seamlessly combined with the conventional conveyor technology in your facility. The MCS® allows you to adapt your machines exactly to the process requirements and a wide variety of configurations, for example if you frequently have to change products on a line. Or if you’d like to combine different process cycle times within a single production line, i.e. wherever you need to keep your production processes as flexible as possible in order to optimise system utilisation and react to requirements quickly. This enables you to achieve maximum efficiency with minimum effort.

MCS®: format selection via software at the touch of a button

For continuously processing different packaging formats on a single line

The different sizes and numbers of cartons and the different product groupings are set directly on the MCS® using the freely positionable carriers. The products to be packaged are also flexibly transported to the top or side loader via MCS®.

The innovative machine concept enables several different filling quantities and formats to be produced on a single line

The entire production process within the filling and packaging machine is so flexible that single-variety or mixed as well as highly customised products can be produced on one machine using industrial mass production techniques right down to a batch size of 1.
