ELGD – the new generation of electric spindle and toothed belt axes

1. Innovative guide technology with optimised axis design developed in-house

  • Excellent rigidity and exceptional load capacity of the guide
  • Virtually vibration-free and very smooth slide movement, extremely long service life

2. Optimised profile design for the best force flow and torque absorption

  • Excellent rigidity
  • Long strokes of up to max. 2.5m for BS and 8.5m for TB

3. Innovative solution with magnetic stainless steel cover strip

  • Magnetic belt deflection without components causing abrasion on the outside
  • Clean surface, no abrasion on the outside
  • Minimised particle emission for use in cleanrooms
  • Reduced ingress of dirt in harsh ambient conditions

4. Different toothed belt materials

  • Polyurethane (PU2) with fabric sheath for long service life and higher resistance to cooling and lubricating fluids. Steel cord tension members enable high forces to be transmitted and also allow the axis to be dynamically controlled
  • Polyurethane (PU1) without sheath, but with a steel tension member for applications in food areas

5. Two different profiles

  • Standard: square profile cross-section with optimised design
  • Wide: reduced profile height for smaller installation spaces and more compact handling systems, high torsional rigidity with lower weight and reduced costs

6. Slide options (TB): longer slide and freely movable second slide

  • For higher axial and lateral torques and higher loads
  • Additional mounting options
  • Longer service life thanks to a second slide that allows the guide load to be distributed

7. Optional extended slide (BS)

  • For higher axial and lateral torques and higher loads
  • Additional mounting options

8. Selectable motor position (TB)

  • Freely selectable at two positions at the end of the axis
  • Motor with cable connection can be mounted 4 x 90° around its own axis
  • Its position can be changed at any time

9. Selectable motor position (BS)

  • Motor mounting options: axial or parallel, for mounting on the right (MR) or left (ML)
  • Axial: motor can be mounted 4 x 90° around its own axis
  • Parallel: a mounting kit can be fitted at 3 x 90° and the motor can be rotated 3 x 90° around its own axis

10. Reliable thanks to optional sensing using inductive proximity sensor

  • Easy to mount up to 2 sensors in the profile slot without needing additional mounting components
  • Flush mounting without interfering edges outside the drive cross-section

Toothed belt and spindle axes EGC – high load-bearing capacity and very rigid

The extensive range stands out thanks to its maximum rigidity and capacity to absorb high loads and torques, especially in the heavy-duty versions EGC-HD. Not only that, but the axes also offer high maximum speed and impressive dynamic response, even with long strokes up to 8.5 m.

Maximum connectivity of the hardware and software, the best possible efficiency and easy operation with servo motors and servo drives from Festo. They form the perfect link between your mechanical systems and control technology and are quick and easy to commission as a complete drive system with the Festo Automation Suite. Put together a combination of electric products that completely meets the requirements of your application, irrespective of your electromechanical system and control environment – perfectly integrated with electric connectivity from Festo.

Servo drive CMMT and servo motor EMMT-AS

Extremely compact and versatile

The CMMT-AS is one of the most compact servo drives in the area of low-voltage controllers. The price- and size-optimised servo drive offers extremely dynamic and precise point-to-point and interpolating motions. The low-voltage drive CMMT-ST is a simple and extremely cost-effective solution for positioning tasks and motion solutions with low power requirements.

Both servo drives can be seamlessly integrated into Ethernet-based system environments and controller-specific function blocks are available to download. A major plus point offered by the CMMT series is simple and error-free commissioning in just a few minutes and in just a few steps with the Festo Automation Suite.

The AC synchronous servo motor EMMT-AS is suitable for the CMMT-AS, is very easy to control and has great path accuracy, making it an outstanding choice for positioning tasks for all kinds of demanding and dynamic applications. Connecting the EMMT-AS to the CMMT-AS with the one-cable solution (OCP) reduces installation effort in your machine and saves space.

Installation and control concepts influence each other. This means that architectures must be cleverly networked to achieve seamless connectivity. Whether you’re looking for a stand-alone control concept with motion control and remote I/O for greater modularity and flexibility in the system layout, perfectly connected I/O systems and control solutions with other control concepts or an optimal, seamless integration into your system environment with Ethernet-based protocols: anything is possible. We call this intelligent connectivity.
