Compressed air oiler

Compressed air lubricator

A lubricator is a device used to lubricate the moving parts of an air compressor. It typically consists of a small reservoir that holds a supply of lubricating oil and a metering mechanism that dispenses a metered amount of oil into the air stream as it is being compressed. The oil helps reduce friction and wear on the compressor's pistons, cylinders and other moving parts, and can also help cool the air as it is compressed. In the Festo range you will not only find individual accessories such as lubricators, but also complete service unit component combinations which, depending on the area of application, also offer you additional accessories for a service unit such as compressed air mounting valves, filter control valves, filters, on/off valves and branching modules.

This should be considered with the compressed air lubricator

It is important to use the right type of oil for your compressor as using the wrong oil can lead to problems such as reduced efficiency or even damage to the compressor. It is also important to maintain and properly fill the lubricator as a lack of lubrication can lead to premature compressor wear and failure.

Service unit component combination, MS series

With the MS service unit component combinations from Festo, you can prepare compressed air comprehensively for a variety of uses. The devices are characterized by a wide range of setting options, highly functional components and a wide range of services. As a result, they can be used individually for simple standard applications or for very application-specific solutions with the highest quality requirements. Thanks to the modular structure, predefined combinations are possible from stock, but also individual components, ready-to-install complete solutions or freely configurable service unit component combinations, which, depending on the application, consist of filter control valves, lubricators, sensors, dryers, safety functions, flow sensors, on/off valves, branching modules, compressed air mounting valves and filters. Thanks to a simple connection system, individual modules can also be exchanged in a time-saving manner – without having to dismantle the entire device. Many of the components in the service unit component combinations are also UL and ATEX certified.

Possible components for service unit component combinations

The following components are possible in service unit component combinations of the MS series:

  • Filter regulators MS-LFR: This component combines filter and pressure control valve. The grade of filtration is 5 μm or 40 μm.
  • Filter regulators MSL-FR-B: This device also combines pressure control valve and filter in a polymer housing. The grade of filtration is also 5 or 40 μm here.
  • Activated carbon filter MS-LFX: Is suitable for removing superfluous and gaseous oil components.
  • Water separator MS-LWS: This component can remove condensation from compressed air in a maintenance-free manner.
  • Lubricator MS-LOE: This lubricator adds a precisely adjustable amount of oil to the compressed air. The amount of oil mist is proportional to the flow rate of the compressed air.
  • On/off valves MS-EE-B: This is an electrically actuated on/off valve in a polymer housing. It is used for pressurizing and exhausting pneumatic systems.
  • Membrane air dryers MS-LDM1: This component is a wear-free membrane dryer with internal air consumption.
  • Distributor blocks MS-FRM-FRZ: This device is a compressed air distributor with 4 connections and half the grid dimension width.

Areas of application for compressed air lubricators

There are many different applications where an air compressor lubricator can be used in a pneumatic system. Examples include:

  • Textile industry: Pneumatic shears and sewing machines can be lubricated with a lubricator to reduce friction and wear on the moving parts.
  • Material handling: Pneumatic conveyor belts and other material handling equipment can be lubricated with a lubricator to reduce wear and improve efficiency.
  • Printing industry: Pneumatic presses and dyeing machines can be lubricated with a lubricator to ensure their efficiency over time.
  • Further processing: Pneumatic further processing equipment such as ironing and pressing machines can be lubricated with a lubricator to reduce wear.
  • Packaging industry: Pneumatic packaging systems, e.g. packaging and wrapping machines, can be lubricated with a lubricator to reduce wear and improve efficiency. A lubricator can help these devices run smoothly, reducing the risk of contamination (e.g. food industry).
