Additive manufacturing and 3D printing

Process reliability is also the number one priority in additive manufacturing: thus protective gases play an important role in ensuring quality and stable production process. For example, we use the so-called pinch valve to direct gas powder currents and thus enable the level of protective gas to be maintained in the machines. As a user and supplier of all possible machines in 3D printing, no matter whether for powder or FDM, at Festo we produce both prototypes and series components.

Additive manufacturing in the powder bed machine

Customer-specific requirements can be implemented really quickly thanks to additive manufacturing processes. This process adds layers upon layers of materials, such as plastics, metallic alloys, ceramics and many others, and shapes them into three-dimensional objects. This is an automated process that allows a level of freedom and complexity that was previously unheard of.

Stable additive manufacturing processes can only be achieved with continuous air preparation and a safe, protective gas atmosphere. This requires innovative flow and pressure regulation products.
